Nightmare
Woodstock, CT
Previous owners of our home bought solar from installer GMI (Glen Martin Inc.) Since then GMI has been sued so many times, the name has changed to SunTrackerUSA to hide all the poor reviews acquired. We learned quickly upon move in that Glen's business tactics were not to be trusted & he became outraged when we refused his expensive (yet optional) system Monitoring, in addition Maintenance Services. Mysteriously, Glen would warn that in order to follow the sun throughout the day it required Internet connection; however, it would eventually malfunction & require repair, which would then take him months to perform. He once sent his teenage son, while seeming high on marijuana, who then supposedly broke something else. Even more suspicious is how it would work just fine whenever Offline, & then he would appear suddenly at our doorstep or actually on our property already working on the stand alone solar panel without our permission, later demanding payment while refusing to honor warranties. GMI always claimed it was lightning damage & not covered under warranty. Shouldn't a tall device such as this within the middle of our land have been properly grounded for that when installed? Paid him $900 to fix it, but solar tracker still nonfuctional. It generates some electricity, yet not moving & thus not completely impacting our electric bills as should. He wants a thousand dollars 1st & harasses us many late nights with profane voice mails in addition numerous threatening text messages. Obviously, we avoid dealings w/him for the next 2 yrs. Requested Google to remove pictures Glen had of our unit on all GMI websites as had been without our consent & Google obliged since we had never been compensated. While in the midst of selling our property, we try to finally have the unit fixed by a different solar electrician. Turns out the tracker's motherboard is electronically locked & GMI refuses to give us the login nor password. Better yet, while contacting his secretary Elaine about it, she stated that he had remotely froze it way back when & just needs to release it with the push of a computer key once online. Upon learning of our impending Closing, Glen now pulls out all the stops, currently trying to extort us by sending falsified service invoices to the realtors, title company, & mortgage broker, scaring the Buyers to walk away by saying we've unpaid over $4,000, making all those involved doubt we own it outright! I included these to show how they are exactly the same, yet numbers are simply quadrupled. Meanwhile, while contemplating notifying law enforcement as well as civil court, we are now going to make this huge solar panel finally useful by making it a billboard warning for everyone to stay away from SunTrackerUSA / GMI Solar. It speaks for itself while stuck in the same position.
