Bought American. Mistake, big mistake. started with 265 watt panels. Replaced two out of 24 already, I'm only 5 years out. No response from the company that created protectionism. For who's benefit? Certainly not a consumer like myself. I'm maxing now around 200 watts a panel. They hit 260 watts on a great day when new... Also discovered there's an issue with solder joints that cause panels to drop production by 1/3rd or 2/3ds. Have to scrape off the silicone garbage where they are all soldered together to fix that problem by re-soldering.... read more

Installed 60 panel 17.1 kw system with enphase 280 micrinverters 06/2016. Went with the American made in Georgia company with a 25 year warranty and great reviews. Had a panel fail ( lost 1/3 of its power output ) and was told you have no more warranty on your panels that are just over a year old, Suniva is in bankruptcy with no one honoring the warranty. Wholesale Solar wanted to sell me a replacement solarworld panel for Apx $500 including shipping ( their special cost price to help out ). I decided to pull the panel to see if I could do anything with it. I found the panel bus bar system basically divides the system into 3rds and that one on the solder joints under the junction box on the back of the panel was bad. Peeled away all the silicone, resoldered the connection and it is back to producing full power. I hope this is an isolated incident as i have 60 of these ( with apx 24 years of warranty, not, remaining ) and it was not easy to take it down and repair, thank goodness it was on the end and at the top instead of in the middle of the array. Hope this helps anybody showing reduced output on a panel ( in enlighten you will see a panel lagging behind the others, say 59 panels putting out 225w and one putting out 152W).... read more

Suniva was an excellent choice in quality and price at the time and I did want to support the American brand and they had a good ratings. If I had it to do over today, Panasonic seems to be a great choice of panels now .
Suniva went out of business. What LA Solar did was order panels to have as a backup for repairs. A really smart way of doing business. And, these panels hardly have issues. It's like 7 panel failures per 10,000 and they are a standard size so it's easy to replace with another brand. LA Solar designed the system to be replaceable with other brands. So, I still feel great about my system.... read more

This is our first and only experience with a solar panel installation so we have nothing to compare them to but their efficiency is about what we expected and they have been trouble free.
