Representative and contractors were excellent. Unfortunately, I have had problems with both invertors (Sharp) resulting in loss of aprox. 20% of output since system installed. Response to problems has been timely just getting tired of continual problems with what is supposed to be a top of the line system. I do not understand why the ecomomic benefits of solar are so poorly marketed by the industry. As a return on investment it makes great sense, but is poorly communicated in advertising.

`How well was the installation process explained to you prior to signing your contract?`: I can`t remember that there was much to explain - so maybe it was `great`. `Were references willingly provided for you to contact?`: I considered Real Goods my reference. I have a lot of respect for you. `How easy was it to get in contact with the contractor while the work was in progress?`: My husband had a few problems getting calls returned in a timely fashion, if I remember right. NOTE: Grant did not do the final delivery of materials and follow-up. That was done by Tim Robinson, if I remember right.

Really appreciated Debbie from Real Goods making sure the installer lined the panels up so they were straight on the roof - took extra time but well worth it for us and others looking at the system. She also did a great job with all the paperwork and explanations. We were very pleased with Real Goods - they made the whole process painless and `held our hands` through every step of it. We had considered doing solar a number of times but dealing with all the permits and gov. paperwork stopped us each time until we heard an ad. on tv. that Real Goods would do it all - then we signed up and they did exactly as promised. Their installation was professional and it`s something we`re proud of and happy to show off to anyone. We`d highly recommend them. We had purchased items from the Real Goods store in Hopland and had been happy with the items and so when we heard their ad. on tv. for the solar we didn`t hesitate to have them do the job even though their store is an hour from where we live. We interviewed several contractors. Scott Carlson of Carlson Solar was very straightforward and open. During and after the installation, we have found Carlson Solar to be very responsive, honest, professional,and helpful. They also obtained City permits and passed the City`s inspection of our solar system. 1. Contract specified full cost of system and showed the amount to be paid for by State rebate. We paid the contractor the net cost after rebates but were responsible for the full amount if the rebate did not come through. 2. We decided to install a solar electric system because we want to operate a large 24/7 pond pump but don`t want to deplete natural resources for luxuries. Also, we wanted to reduce our overall electricity cost.

It is a thrill to see the meter running backwards every morning. We`ve had the system for only a short time, but thus far, we are very satisfied. We had earlier experience with PV energy in Sunnyvale, CA. We explored contractors and equipment in conjunction with the installation of thermal panels for heating our swimming pool,using print and internet sources.
