I can’t recommend NES enough. Honestly, solar is a huge investment and a pretty intimidating process, but they did it right. From the very first phone call to the follow-ups after the job was done, the whole team was actually there for us. They didn’t just give us a sales pitch; they gave us real, honest expectations. What I appreciated most was their patience. We went back and forth on the design quite a bit to make sure it hit our goals, and they never made us feel rushed. When we were comparing them to other companies, NES was always the fastest to get back to us, the most organized with onsite visits, and they worked hard to make sure we hit our deadline for incentives. The crew that did the install was great—kind, polite, and respectful of our house and our schedule while they were working. They actually took the time to explain the technical stuff, like the changes to our electrical infrastructure and the details in the contract, so we weren't left in the dark. Buying solar is a very complex decision, read below and choose wisely. NES owners Steven & Kevin Nickels were involved with every step, no detail was too small. NO PUSHY SELLING, they do their homework, present it and let you decide. They did forecasts, designed the system, filed for permits, their install team executed the install flawlessly, and at the end, they trained me on the app, reviewed all of the solar tax documents they'd prepared for me, they instructed me on how to follow-up with Nat Grid. All 'after the sale' questions were answered fast. SUMMARY: Solar is expensive and complex, I will recommend NES because you just can't execute Solar any better.

A professional solar installer

I am very impressed after hiring Nickels Energy Solutions to install our solar project. Both Steve and Kevin are very professional and knowledgeable. Kevin was the original point of contact and his willingness to spend hours on the phone with me over various conversations is a testament to their commitment to customers. Kevin was able to answer many of my questions and made me very comfortable with the various steps in solar installation process. Steve handled much of the technical side; he was also incredibly helpful in understanding the process and willing to answer my questions. The installation is very professional and clean thanks to Steve’s commitment to quality and detail. The installation team was thorough and professional. NES handled the permitting and inspection paperwork and facilitated financing through a company with which I was previously unfamiliar. Finally, NES provided me with information at the end of the process related to inspections, permits, expected performance and directions to apply for tax credits. Their commitment to their customers and to ensuring that the installation process is simple and transparent is outstanding. I cannot recommend them highly enough – if you are looking for a solar installer, give NES a chance. If you choose them, you will not be disappointed.

His crew was polite, professional, and careful in their installation of our rooftop solar array and we've had nothing but responsive customer service and a perfectly functioning system since installation. We were impressed with the professionalism displayed bySteve and Kevin Nickels right from the start. They were on time for all appointments and flexible when we needed it. It took us a few months to decide on what we wanted on our system. The were extremely patient and did not pressure us at all as we went though our decision process. I love my solar panels. But more important, Nickels did a great job. The customer service was unparalleled and this was important because there were additional complications doing the job in the city of syracuse. The job was delayed a number of times due to inspections and site visits by national grid but Nickels kept me informed at every step of the way. They also did a great job of cleaning up after each step.

Solar Panel Sale & Installation

I highly recommend Nickels Energy Solutions if you are considering going solar. This is a very professional company that is not just out there to sell you solar. The sales person and system designers took the time to make changes to the system configuration until we were both satisfied that we were purchasing the system that fulfilled our power, financial, and appearance concerns. The entire company worked quickly to obtain all the necessary permits and had the system installed very soon after. THE SYSTEM LOOKS GREAT ALSO!! The inverters are installed under the solar panels so you don't see the ugly boxes and conduit sitting on the roof like I have seen in installations by other companies. They have also followed up with us on several occasions after the installation.

Exceptional to work with

Working with NES on my home PV system was a wonderful experience. Steve is extremely knowledgable and answered all of my questions. The system was installed within the timeframe specified (actually it was complete early) and I was kept informed at each step along the way. I would recommend anyone interested in solar talk with NES, there certainly may be cheaper installers, but with any long term investment, quality workmanship and longevity are the biggest factors when making that decision.

Residential home installation

NIckles Energy Solutions ,LLC installed a 6.9kW size system using 20 solar panels using micro inverters and a monitoring service. We are very happy with the service and professionalism we received in working with NES. Everything they said they would do, they did with full explanation with each step. Not only did my wife and I learn a lot during this process, we had fun too. We plan on having NES do our daughter's home.

GREAT FAMILY BUSINESS

Kevin and Steve were the first to get a quote to us, came in with a great price and offered excellent products. It was comforting to have one of the owners (who is also an engineer) up on the roof doing the installation along with another engineer. Everything went smoothly and they kept us up-to-date throughout. System is up and running and looks great.

My husband and I have toyed with the idea of solar for some time. We visited trade shows in the area, Googled, and asked around but we were not certain on the benefits. When we sat down with NES Kevin was able to outline the cost savings for our home and provide us with personal statistics right out of the gate. Any question, we had a lot!, he was able to answer and built our confidence level up extremely. Their engineer, Steve then arrived to measure our roof and review our attic. On both occasions it was as if he was never even there. Their ability to flex with our work schedules also was extremely helpful. We are so thankful we went forward with the process and are now receiving the financial and environmental benefits of solar.

Outstanding Residential Installation

Quick opening remark. Kevin and Steve are consummate professionals. Beginning to end, and after. I have based my whole professional career on a few basic principals. Set expectations, Meet or exceed those expectations, and always move forward in a positive manner. The Nickels group does exactly that. Framing up the job and setting the expectations. Kevin is a tireless manager. And he has many tools at his disposal to write a Statement of Work that is clear, concise and has plenty of detail. But I think I drove Kevin pretty hard for detail, as I like to have every duck in a row before I pull the trigger on a project like this. Kevin was there to answer every question and make adjustments to the scope, always well documented. And that Scope is the expectation I had when I signed, both on the physical installation as well as all the financial aspects, including the tax incentives. Meeting and exceeding. I didn't get much face time with Steve. He is the engineer and installation manager behind the scenes. But his work was on time, clean, and completely within the scope we set. I could not be happier with the installation work. On the Financial end. You may be a bit nervous entering a venture like this. And you must do your own homework and have your own comfort level. The facts here are the 'Cost of Ownership' is exactly what we scoped out and the big tax credit checks where exactly what we expected. After all getting those credits back is huge. So now we sit back, get on the web, and watch the sun turn into dollars on the handy monitoring system. It's pretty cool.
