Unscheduled Roof Project
Issue: I had solar panels installed 3 years ago on a 12 year old shingle roof that passed inspection for solar installation. Roof started leaking! Roof was determined to require replacement of 30 year roof. I had to research replacing roof and companies that could remove solar panels and then install. Scope: The roof is 3300 sq. ft with gables and 41 solar panels. I hadn't planned for a new roof or removing solar panels after 3 years of usage. Not a happy Chappy to say the least. I reviewed 5 companies and decided on two separate companies to do the work independently. Work: Live Oak Energy was who I chose for the following reasons: Actually knew what they were talking about with assurances they would test current system, install with better support and then insure the system was working. Fair pricing for the work, Coordination with the roofing company and assurances that to do the work as promised. Live Oak had to remove and reinstall 41 solar panels and inverters. Performance: Cyrus of Live Oak met all timelines as promised. They removed all equipment prior to roof replacement and then returned to reinstall after new roof was installed. Their mounting equipment was a substantial improvement of the previous provider as their equipment was installed on the roof decking and not into the roof rafters thus avoiding practice of raising the new roof shingles to install (potential leaks). The new installed panels are now just off the shingles allowing improved air flow but rated to 140MPH wind performance. Summary: I did not plan for this roof replacement but I am sure pleased that I chose Live Oak systems for the panel side of this project. I am recommending them completely in anything Solar. Trust goes a long way in today's market and if you are thinking of repairing, replacing or a new solar project then Cyrus and Oak Energy are the way to go.
