Love my solar panels!

Exact solar did exactly what they said, the price was right and the project was on time. I have saved a ton of money since getting my solar panels installed, I also get $200-$400 back in Srects each month. This is a total win-win for me. Most people think solar is too good to be true, but it's the best. I did have to cut down 2 trees and my house is all electric, with a smaller area of oil heat. So solar was a benefit! Exact Solar also haven't installed my system an gone. If I have a question or concern I can call on and rely on them for help. I can also monitor my system at any time from my android device. GREAT COMPANY

Used Exact Solar twice and highly recommend

We have a farm and with greenhouse fans running non stop in summer our electricity bill was huge. We decided to go solar. I met with 4 different companies and analyzed their proposals. Exact Solar was a definite winner in this selection process: price wise, management wise. We were not disappointed - the process was smooth and the panels came out beautifully. Exact Solar company deals with all issues: township changing our initial project' size, location of panels moved and so on. They provide excellent support afterwards, I do not hesitate to call Dara or Mark (owners) with any questions. So when we needed to repair existing system on the barn, Exact Solar was the company we chose, based on the great experience we had.

Happy to have gone solar!

I selected ExactSolar for my residential rooftop solar installation after a 3-year process. In 2016, after observing the market trends on and off for a year, I contacted 3 companies - a large national organization, a mid-size, local company (ExactSolar) and a very small local company. For all 3 outfits I went through on-site quoting and extensive conversation on financing, lead time, customer support and product selection. That was in 2016, and the timing wasn’t right for me. This year, 2018, with the price at about $2.50/watt and the tax credit tapering off after 2019, I was ready to purchase. ExactSolar won my contract for several reasons: competence and experience in the business, project management, customer support, timeliness of response and attention to details. Furthermore, I had a somewhat complicated situation: I needed a new roof, and then prior to that, I needed to take down a working roof-mounted solar thermal hot water system, and then have the same hot water system put back on the roof and functioning again after the photovoltaic solar install. I also needed to upgrade my main electrical panel to 200 Amps. And ExactSolar was able to take care of all that along with installing and tying the PV solar to the grid. Long story short, everything went off seamlessly. Dara (co-owner of ExactSolar) was a tremendous resource in helping me select and afford a 42-panel system that would reduce my electric bill by 80%. Mark (owner of ExactSolar) was amazing in getting my solar thermal hot water system down and then up again in perfect working order. The entire installation crew was conscientious, communicated well with each other, paid attention to the aesthetics (panels were lined up symmetrically with respect to the roof edges and a nice color-coordinated skirt for each section was installed), and attention to safety (harnesses were worn whenever they got on the roof). I really appreciated Vlad’s meticulous cable management - all lines were anchored and securely contained in weather-proof metal casing and positioned in the right places where there is ample room for servicing and monitoring. Throughout the entire multi-step process, the office staff was great with follow-through with the paperwork, and mapping out for me the next steps to come. I’m very satisfied with how the project turned out; it’s a big investment for me and I’m so glad I chose ExactSolar to handle it!

Clean Energy

It does't take a genius to see to the glaring & obvious reasons for the world to find clean / renewable energy sources. Exact Solar installed our 13 panel system in 2015. My current solar loan offsets my pervious PECO electric bill. Most months, my usage is lower that what I produce- so I sell back to the grid. Besides the clean / pro install & helpful information, Exact Solar continues to monitor & answer any questions I need about my current system and future modifications. You need to do this, it's 2018.

Swimming pool solar

After looking at all of the various products such as Gas, Propane, electric to get my pool warmer for this summer season I was looking at thousands of dollar to either run new gas line, install propane tanks or putting in a plethora of electrical components I was frustrated to say the least. It was when I went with my son-in-law to a presentation on Solar power for his house. He search high and low to find the company that was going to satisfy his three requirements: Quality of the product, Delivery and installation, and Customer service. His electric bill now is next to nothing! That convinced me to try Passive solar heating for my pool, Mark and Dara from ExactSolar worked with me from the very start, they walked me through step by step answering all of my questions and checking in with me from time to time just to say hello and if everything was going well. In the end I have what we wanted while paying far less then all of the other options and best of all I don’t have to worry about my electric/gas/propane cost.

Excellent Company - Great Experience

I had a bad experience with One Roof energy who luckily went out of business before installing my solar panels. After that I was determined to not lease solar panels. What a scam. It took me about a year to finally reach out to another company. After much research and reading many reviews, I choose Exact Solar. What a difference. Their contract was simple and easy to understand. They were always ready to answer any questions for you. The owner, Mark, was here on the first day on installation to start everything off. Mark continued to be available and answer any questions I had. Everyone installing the panels were friendly and helpful. They explained everything they were doing during the installation. Even after the installation Exact Solar continued to support me. They provided choices of SREC brokers for me to review. They even setup the account with the broker I decided to go with. I would recommend them to anyone!

Exact Solar is the best

I signed up with Exact Solar last summer (2017) after obtaining quotes from several installers in Pennington area through Energy Sage and meeting with them. Exact's quote was among the best with straight-forward numbers and no hidden costs. Dara was especially helpful during the vetting stage. She answered all my questions and provided insights into SREC pricing and long term trends (which many installers don't). This also convinced me to apply for the excellent solar loan from PSE&G which basically reduced my out of pocket expense to 1% of the overall cost and guaranteed the loan repayment through stable SREC prices over 10 years. Dara also agreed to install LG all black panels instead of the regular panels at no additional cost. I had concerns about roof leaks but Dara explained how the new flanges prevent roof leaks and on top of that she provided a 10 year warranty. During the installation time, Mark was absolutely awesome. He helped with the solar loan paperwork, ensured that all permits were obtained without any issues and installation was done on time. The system has been working perfectly for the last several months, the PSE&G loan came through and electricity bills are down to $2.42 (the mandatory grid connection charge). He also ensured that the latest model of Solar Edge inverter was installed which is more efficient and smaller than the old models. Overall, I am extremely pleased with Exact Solar. They are professional, courteous and trustworthy. I wish them continued success in the future.

The best decision we made!

When we bought a new home in Pennington, the very best decision we made was hiring Exact Solar to install panels on our roof. In the beginning, they went over all the options - pros/cons which allowed us to make a decision which was best for us. We installed an 11 kW system -- Exact Solar completed all the paperwork, permits, net metering application with PSEG. It was smooth and painless on our end - the workers who installed the panels were all extremely nice and professional. One more thing that sets Exact Solar apart -- when we signed the contract we were told that the system would produce about 10 MWh per year -- numbers that we counted on to make solar a sound financial decision. As we hit the 5 month mark of solar, I realized that the panels were under producing and we would fall below the 10 MWh. We had a lot of trees in the backyard and cut down about 10 - the initial shade analysis estimated the shade after the trees were removed. Exact Solar also noticed the production wasn't as expected and came out and did a full shade analysis and ran numbers again -- they also determined that the system would produce around 8 MWh as there was more shade than anticipated on the roof after trees were removed. They held to their word and immediately set to work on doing whatever was necessary to ensure the system produced as expected-- they developed a plan to move panels, add an additional panel and even paid to cut down and remove a neighbors tree that was casting a lot of shade on the roof (and was also a danger to the neighbors roof). This was all at a significant additional expense to them -- we have went from producing around 30-35 kWh a day in June to producing 50+ kWh a day in mid-March. A significant improvement which should have us exceed 10 MWh for the year. This a family owned company that truly stands behind their work -- you will not be disappointed. Mark and Dara (Owners) are both fantastic and very responsive -- Don Kane was our solar rep/sales person and he was great, knowledgeable and responsive as well. You just don't see companies who are so passionate about what they do and at the same time stand behind their work. If you are considering Solar, I cannot recommend Exact Solar enough!

Two Years Later and All is Good

Excellent company to deal with. Accessible by phone or email with no snags. I had a situation where my incoming voltage from the power company dropped and caused one of my inverters to shut down (as they are designed to do). Mark came out immediately, diagnosed the problem and notified the power company that they had a problem.

We choose Exact Solar after reading all of the great online customer reviews...Now we have our own five star review to post! Don from the sales team did a great job explaining solar energy to us, and patiently answered our many questions. After we signed the contract, everything was incredibly easy. They took care of all the paperwork for the permits and for PECO while communicating with us throughout the process. The installation team was great… They were very knowledgeable and able to answer some other questions that we had. After the installation, Exact Solar continued to communicate with us to ensure that the system was running optimally. I would highly recommend exact solar. They care about their customers and provide superior service.

Exact Solar: A skilled, technically competent firm

I almost signed a contract with one of those large multi state organizations that employes your sterotypical salesman and has a contract that is 29 pages long. I was going to be away for a month and decided to wait and educate myself on the issues (technical and financial ) and get a better sense of the mass of sellers (installers) out there. I spoke to a professional commercial structure inspector in Delaware who introduced me to a PA analyst that was quite knowledgeable in the solar industry. I had some issues that I felt were above cookie cutter and wanted a firm that I could rely on for correct answers whether it benefited their firm or not. He put me in touch with Exact Solar and Dara Bortman (who is an owner along with her husband Mark). They are on the executive board of the Mid Atlantic Solar Industries Assn and are very knowledgeable on industry trends and state legislative movements. If Dara did not know the answer to a technical question she got Mark involved and we worked our way thru it. They helped me with Atlantic City Electric when ACE would not allow me to install the sized system that I felt I needed. Between us we were able to convince ACE that we would use the size system that I wanted . They were very good at explaining the ins and outs of alternative equipment designs and were able to determine that the slight shading toward some trees would not reduce my system performance. They even arranged for their electrician to install some outlets in the garage to enable charging of my new plug in hybrid. I told Mark and his crew of my HOAs concerns about external equipment (conduit and boxes) showing on the outside walls and they designed a system that did not show on the side walls. All the installation was done in a very workmanlike manner and they would explain why they had chosen various methods. I was about to go away for the month of Nov and Marks schedule was very booked and he was not sure he could get it done before I left. When he got an opening he offered it to me and we got it done before I left. With all the paperwork completed while I was away ACE came out and installed the replacement meter and I was up and generating while I was still on vacation. I like the way these people think and work. As a new customer they donated a small amount to a third world solar organization in our families name. We continue to talk about issues like selecting a Broker/aggregator to sell the solar credits that my system produces. I should also mention that they have two very competent in the office that also handle the routine questions and keep everything going when Mark and Dara are tied up. I would recommend that anyone contemplating a solar system (photovoltatic or PV system) should do you homework and be very skeptical of the large national installers and select a local installer that is heavily involved in the local industry. One other point that needs to be made. After I got going with Exact Solar I looked back at some of the quotes from the large national firm and realized that Exact was actually Less Expensive.

Proud of our Panels

As a Designer/Builder of Passive Solar Homes since the late 1970’s I have had professional experience in building solar oriented, well insulated homes and additions for a long time. All were “Photovoltaic Ready” waiting for the price of solar electric to become feasible. In 2002 we bought our own home (a contemporary built in the mid-sixties). Key among the things we were looking for were solar orientation, the potential for a passive solar addition, and a whole house renovation with photovoltaics to create a net zero home. I designed and built a passive solar addition with south facing vertical glazing and a metal roof ready for photovoltaics. I then interviewed several reputable companies for the photovoltaic subcontract and all were capable of providing the system, which was sized to provide our annual electric needs of about 5K. This includes our house loads (with oil heat/DHW and electric cooking) and my home based design office with computers, printers and office equipment. EXACT SOLAR was my choice for several reasons. Mark Bortman was personable, professional, and knowledgeable. He discussed the issues for our potential installation which does include seasonal shading. He suggested technologies to minimize the impact of localized shading and was familiar with all the options I was interested in. This included options for making the system grid connected now and allowing for seamless updating to a battery backup so it could serve as a backup “generator” in case of power outages in the future. He obviously had spent plenty of time on roofs and had done his share of installations. Working with a company with “hands-on” experience in ownership is my preference. EXACT SOLAR was patient as I vacillated and budgeted around the timing for the installation, and when I finally decided the time was right to go ahead, they handled all the permitting and technical issues with JCP&L, guiding me through all forms and applications. Their service was professional, on the scheduled dates, and neat. All the installers and electricians were courteous, personable, informative, and did an excellent job. Our system went on-line in December of 2015 and has worked flawlessly since then. It has only been down one time due to major utility accident when a nearby High Tension wire fell on the local power lines causing a major surge to the local system blowing utility equipment and breakers. This surge resulted in a low voltage (milliamp) fuse in the Solar Inverter blowing. (The same surge destroyed an air condition in our house and blew breakers.) When I checked the solar system and found it not operational, Mark came out the next day, trouble shot the problem, commented he had never seen that fuse go before. Contacted the manufacturer, arranged for replacement fuses from them and put in a slightly differently rated fuse from Radio Shack to get the system online right away. The fuse replacement set the system working flawlessly again. I cannot say the same for the air-conditioner which has now been recycled since it was not repairable after the surge. My long time commitment to solar energy as part of the necessary and logical renewable future, made it a certainty that the photovoltaics would go on our roof, and the economics of the decision were secondary. On the other hand when thinking about it—especially in these times of very low interest rates--I could not think of a better way to invest the money I used to pay for the system given the potential savings on our utility bills. This logic has paid off and proven correct. The approximate cost of the system, less the 30% Federal tax credit, was about $12,000. The first full year of system operation my electric bill with net-metering was $2.98 a month for 10 months (the minimum service charge for being hooked up to the grid) and a total of about $50 for the other two months. The total annual bill was about $80. Prior to the system being installed, I was paying about $100 per month for electric service. (This included an upcharge for solar generated power rather than JCP&L’s basically non-renewable portfolio.) That is to say over the course of one year the photovoltaic system saved us just under $1200, which is about 1/10 of the net cost of the system. Looked at one way, this is a 10 year payback period (at 2015 electric costs.) A more gratifying way to look at it is that the $12,000 investment we made in photovoltaics is making almost 10% annually and will continue to do so for decades, guaranteed. If electric rates go up, the actual savings and effective interest on our investment will also increase. All in all it is the best investment I can think of, combining real financial savings while saving the environment from tons of pollution.

Excellent job by Exact Solar

From initial contact to installation completion, Exact Solar did a fantastic job for us. They set reasonable expectations in terms of price and the installation process, and met their timeline and budget. We have begun to generate power from the 22 panels on our roof, and it's amazing.

Solar Panels for our Pool

We had 6 out of 10 solar panels replaced for our pool that had been installed in 1979. Exact Solar was very professional. They kept me informed on the timing of the installation. Their technicians were on time and cleaned everything up. Also, took the old panel away to dispose on them. Only took about 1hour total. Would highly recommend this company for any of your solar needs.

Very, very happy

We spent A LOT of time looking at companies and settled on exact solar for our panel array (on the ground) First of, the owners are the ones who come to your property both during the consultation as well as the install. They remain VERY ACCESSIBLE months after the installation. (I suspect even years, but it hasn't been that long). We asked for at least 4 different types of quotes -- mainly dealing with battery back up -- not a problem. All of our (many) questions were answered. It took us over a year to finally move forward, mainly bc we had a generator installed first. They kept in touch but did not harass us like other, bigger companies (THANK YOU). Not once did they seem tired with our delays/questions. The installation was great!!! They even came out over the holidays (non intrusive) and in frigid temps. So much so that I told them to pack up and go home (they kept working). In sum, we are thrilled with our system. So much so, that we bought a hybrid car and are considering adding more panels. They continue to answer any and all questions, so we are very, very happy with our end result. We ended up buying over leasing. I suspect that their estimates are pretty close as to when the system will pay for itself. Of the scores of contractors that we have had at our home, exact solar is definitely in the top 3!!! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

You can't go wrong with Exact Solar!

I have chosen Exact Solar for my project because of the following reasons: 1. Excellent pre-sales support. 2. Fair pricing (less than all the quotes I had received) 3. No pressure/brainwash to buy the lease option (many companies in NJ/PA are currently doing that). I think, there is no need to lease the system if you can afford to buy it as the system will be free for your lifetime after 6-7 years (current ROI). I am very much satisfied with Exact Solar's overall service. I have been recommending them to my friends/neighbors as I am fully convinced that you can't go wrong with them :)

We used Exact Solar 1 year ago to install about 38 panels on my home. Prior to signing with them, I researched this project for about 3 years and almost pulled the trigger twice with a larger company. The big companies really did not want to deal with me since I was not leasing the units (I bought the system outright to max out the savings). Exact Solar did not waste my time with sales pitches..they knew I was an educated consumer and were very easy to deal with. My experience overall was excellent. They actually worked out to be the most cost effective (although most quotes I received were within +/- $1000). The communication was great...I never waited more than a few hours to get an e-mail or phone call back. We must have gone through at least 10 different proposals and quotes until we found the perfect system for me. The owners here took care of EVERYTHING! The technical lingo involved is very complicated. All I did was sign a few papers and they do the rest...literally. They know this industry inside and out. If you are looking for Solar, give these guys a chance for your business. I challenge you to call the big guys (solar city ect..) and here their pitch. Its a joke. They want about 25% more money for the same exact system.

Exact's pricing was fair. Their installation was smooth and worry free. Everything works the way they promised. We no Longer have electric bills.

Small, family owned business.Mark (owner) does the initial visit , explanation, evaluation, & plan. Very Hands on owners (Mark & Dara) who stay with you after the completion of the project! Not only can you call or email them at any time with questions (& get an immediate response) but they also contact you when they see something while monitoring your system (proof that they do monitor your system!). The personal attention you get makes you feel like you are the only owner with whom they deal. I could not be more satisfied! I highly recommend EXACT SOLAR !

Wish I Had Chosen them First!

Another company installed my solar panels 3 years ago. When I recently had a problem with my system, I discovered that that company had disappeared. I tried to contact several other companies for help, but to no avail. Sarah at Exact Solar returned my call quickly and got my problem resolved the same day without any charge, even though I wasn't one of their regular customers. When these folks say that they believe in solar power and want people to be happy with their systems, they aren't kidding. I'm so glad to have found them! Getting your solar installed is a big deal, but you also want a company that's willing and able to help if you need assistance in the future. I'll be depending on Exact Solar from now on.

Quick, Professional and Unobtrusive!

Installation was done in one day. Mark explained how it works very effectively. The system heats the pool about 5 degrees per sunny day. We prefer to deal with local professionals and locally owned franchisees, and Marc and Dara's company certainly fulfilled our expectations. We couldn't be happier. Given that the sun's energy is free, I think the pay-back will be three seasons or less. My neighbors have, and continue to expect that their gas heater will cost $1,200/year excluding installation which was about the same as ours.
