Our experience with EcoHouse Solar has been exceptional! We purchased a home that already had the solar panels installed. The Engineer was very knowledgeable and patient as we worked to move the account over to our name and educate us on how the system works. I have been impressed!

Our solar journey has been a couple of years in the making and we are very fortunate that Ecohouse Solar worked with us to install our solar system. We interviewed and met with several installers in the central Ohio area and received recommendations but ultimately knew from the first interaction that Ecohouse would be the company we would choose to work with. Throughout the entire process, the Ecohouse staff has been responsive, professional, patient and respectful. Ultimately we installed 24 solar panels at our farm in Delaware County and have been very satisfied with the output of the system and the support provided by Ecohouse. Even after the installation was complete, they have been helping us understand monitoring, our electric bill and how to remove snow safely. We'd like to especially recognize Michael Schaal who was (and continues to be) our primary contact. His knowledge of and passion for solar energy solutions is unmatched. Poor service, warranty is worthless

Never can get ahold of them. Hardware keeps failing multiple times a year. They were sold to IGS a few years ago and since then it’s gone downhill.

Great company

Ecohouse Solar installed our 8.4 kW system in July of 2022 which included a new electrical service panel. Mike Hopper was excellent to work with and answered all of our (many) questions. He helped us design the best system with the right panels for us, at a great price. After signing the contract, Mike continued to keep us informed of all activities. Both the local and utility permitting/inspections were handled with little to no effort from us. All the installers and electricians were courteous and professional. They worked quickly without disrupting the yard or interior of the house. I would gladly recommend Ecohouse for anyone considering solar.

Ecohouse Solar is the best!

I agree with the other reviewers that Ecohouse Solar is outstanding! Our goal was to produce enough energy to offset the full electrical consumption of our home and electric vehicle throughout the year while simultaneously providing us with daytime backup in the event of a grid failure. We purchased a 16.2KW system consisting of 45 panels, microinverters and added Sunlight Backup for 8 x Circuits. The sales process with Ecohouse was smooth sailing. Mike Hopper was our Project Manager. I cannot say enough great things about him personally and the entire Ecohouse Solar team. Our solar system worked perfectly from the day it was installed and the installation quality was top notch. I made the right choice both to go Solar and in my choice of Ecohouse Solar. You should strongly consider them too!

Great company, great install

Ecohouse and Mike Hopper were great to work with. There is a lot involved with the process and the whole team made it super easy. Also, top notch install, looks fantastic with the newer black panels.

Working with Ecohouse Solar and Mike Hopper was a great experience. Mike is very knowledgeable, clearly explained the system and helped us with the 30% tax credit that made this project financially possible. The work crew was very professional, efficient and friendly. The work was done promptly, and the clean-up was excellent. After we started the solar panel part of the project, we decided to add a Generac generator to the system. Mike worked really well with Mid-Ohio Generators to help with the hook up requirements. We strongly suggest that you think about a generator from the start. We are now not only producing our own electricity, but we are also covered in case of power outages. Amazing team to work with!

I started searching for a solar panel company to work with in January of this year. When I met with Mike from Ecohouse Solar in early May I knew I found the right group of people to work with. Mike, Andy, Rocky, Dan, the office staff, everyone was friendly and professional to work with and took time to answer my questions along the way. They are very clear on what to expect during the process. Panels were installed in mid-July; on-site crew was hard working and very respectful of my home and property. A great experience from start to finish!

Excellent experience

The whole crew at Ecohouse are one of the most professional contractors I have encountered. They kept us informed every step of the way, when they came out to install, very friendly / courteous bunch of guys. The guy that did the actual wiring - oh my gosh, he knew everything inside and out on what he was doing. Most credit to Mike Hopper as he was here every day of the install, answered whatever questions we had, made suggestions etc. Great overall experience!

New solar install with Ecohouse

I'll start out by saying that a five star review for our install doesn't even begin to cover how great our install process was. I was given Mike Hopper's number from a friend at work who highly recommend Ecohouse for us in early March 2022. I called Mike right away and he was able to drive 45 miles to my house that same afternoon to take a look at everything and go over our options. He looked at and took pictures of our roof, electric panel, meter, and generator. I told him we were looking for a system with 100% offset. He got back with a recommended system for us within a couple of days and we moved forward from there. He has been with us since the beginning to answer questions and make sure things were going well for us throughout this process. Our system was installed and up and running on May 24th 2022. The install process took two days. The crew that showed up to do the install was just absolutely phenomenal. They took their time measuring where everything would go and ended needing to move a couple of panels based on changes I had mentioned with wanting to keep a walkway up to our chimney. They were able to make the changes and the final install looks great. They took extra time to make sure all of the panels lined up perfectly and even had to go back to move three panels over on the bottom row to the right about 3/4 of an inch. The guy installing all of the boxes to tie into the existing grid did a beautiful job. He took his time to bend all of the conduit perfectly and it blends in with the house like it had been there all along. In the end everyone was super great to work with. Mike, Patrick, RJ, Lance, Dan, and Toby keep up the great work and thanks for the beautiful install!

So very happy with Ecohouse

We are VERY pleased with our recent installation of solar panels on our house by Ecohouse. Mike Hopper, the project manager, and everyone else at Ecohouse made it easy for us to go solar and to feel really good about our decision. At every juncture in the process, each person we had contact with made us feel like our needs were most important to them and treated us in a professional and yet very friendly manner. We did look at other solar companies before going with the locally owned Ecohouse and did not come away feeling as good. Thus, we will always recommend Ecohouse over any others. We are pleased and excited to be a customer of Ecohouse and to have a solar powered house.

Works well, saving a lot on electric bill

Panels installed on barn requiring upgrade of old breaker panel and reuse of existing underground to house. We chose Ecohouse because they were the only company who could make the existing system work without installing new underground and in adapting system to accommodate multiple out buildings and generator. Mike Hopper and the entire crew were professional and responsive, taking the time to explain the system (including the phone app), and making sure we were informed of the schedule and process. Total price is before tax incentives and included replacement of breaker panel. Our February electric bill was $0.22.

Highly Recommended!

I am super happy with my new solar installation! I get the impression I might be a little different than the typical customer, because I wanted to be able to go off grid, not just offset my electric bill, so I bought a good sized system and house batteries. For me, it’s not about just selling back to the grid; I store the power during the day and use it at night when the sun is down. Very cool stuff! The whole time, Mike Hopper at Ecohouse was super awesome to work with! He’s always been patient with me and my million questions, and seems to be genuinely interested in my not-as-common solar goals. I also want to say thank you to the installers, who were very polite and professional. I work from home, and they were very considerate of that. Plus, again, I wanted to know every little thing, so they would take time to answer my questions. I definitely recommend giving them a call if you’re curious!

Ecohouse made it easy to get exactly what I wanted and took the time to explain the entire process from the initial phone call to the final sign off from the power company. The install team was awesome and I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out, both aesthetically and performance-wise. There was a slight issue with the combiner box after installation but the Ecohouse team went above and beyond to ensure the system was operating as designed. I encourage anyone who is on the fence with going solar to call this company.

A Fantasic Firm

When we began considering solar, we contacted a number of vendors, read a great deal, and spoke with numerous neighbors who had solar. After interviewing several solar vendors — and began to think that we had walked into a car dealership — we sat down with Ecohouse Solar, and Andy Kuss came to our house, went over everything that we could think of plus more. He was not in a hurry and did not use any pressure sales tactics. We decided to go with Ecohouse Solar. The installation crew was incredible. Fast, efficient, communicative, and friendly — our dog wanted to go home with one. The Ecohouse Solar electrician was the same story. They did the entire installation in two days, and they left the place cleaner than when they arrived. By far, the longest part of the entire venture was waiting for AEP. (And thank heavens Ecohouse Solar took care of the paperwork. We recommend them without hesitation, and we have not done so with anyone else in years.

Extremely pleased with my new power system

Interviewed three installation companies and chose Ecohouse based on knowledge, price, and previous reviews. Very pleased with the completion of the project and the results I'm seeing in power production. Project leader, Mike Hopper, walked me through each step of the process and listened to suggestions and comments I had about the design and integration with my property. Completed several steps while I was away, which led to some miscommunication, but I am pleased with the results. I expect the system to save me a lot of money and by being finished in time for summer (a month ahead of schedule), the bills are already looking amazing.

Great Value

EcoHouse Solar knew more than the six other companies I talked to and they are price competitive. They have the best value by far - a superior product in the same price range as the competitions lower quality products. My salesman was very technically proficient and did an outstanding job of keeping me informed throughout the design and installation process. Highly recommended!

Professional and responsive

Ecohouse solar installed a 7.68 kw system on the roof of our home. Jeff gave a very detailed proposal specific to our property, and the system should cover 98% of our electric usage. He answered all of our questions, explained the entire process, and showed up for every appointment, whether it was with ecohouse or not (city inspection, electrical work, monitoring equipment installation). From signing the contract to completing the installation took about 4 months, with the installation itself taking less than a day. Our home needed some electrical upgrades due to an old breaker, and were completed without difficulty. We are looking forward to using our solar panels for years to come!

I need service, ECOHOUSE DRAGGING their feet

Ecohouse installed my solar in Aug. 2019, no problems. Less than a year later the Solar Edge inverter (12-year warranty) failed. A replacement inverter was provided and installed in a timely manner by Ecohouse. Six months on the inverter has failed again. Ecohouse called Solar Edge and waited I decided to call them myself and followed up several times because a second faulty inverted was not expected. Ecohouse has had the inverter for 2 weeks now and tell me they will wait for a rainy day to install it, they put my repair into their new install schedule!

6.83 kWp installation

They were professional and highly knowledgeable from start to finish. No surprises, and the system is performing as projected. Everyone should go solar if they can finance the system -- it will save lots of money in the long run. And Ecohouse is a great company to work with!

Ecohouse Solar is a fantastic company and team to work with!

My husband and I contracted Ecohouse Solar to put in a 7.2 KW system in the Spring of 2019. We had a fantastic experience working with Jeff and the team. From providing resources for informed decisions during the process to reviewing the software monitoring package after the installation, Jeff laid out the timeline and walked us through each step and what to expect, keeping everything moving. We couldn’t be happier with the investment, both environmental and financial. We wouldn’t change anything about the process, except maybe to have done this sooner.

Recommending Ecohouse Solar

I very highly recommend Ecohouse Solar if you are located in central Ohio. We contracted with them in 2018 to provide our rooftop photovoltaic system. General Manager Keith Dimoff was exceedingly patient, helpful and accommodating through several design iterations, as I dove deeper into available technologies, and changed my mind about what to optimize. (Beyond simply payback time, or rate of return, I also considered low maintenance, durability, lifespan, and expandability.) Keith was remarkably conscious of the final aesthetics in designing and installing the system. Everyone we interacted with from Ecohouse was friendly, easy to get along with, competent, considerate, and conscientious. Ecohouse handled all of the paperwork (permits, permissions from the power company, etc.), which was wonderful as far as I'm concerned; I hate that stuff.

THEY DID A GREAT JOB!

If you're here you've already started your research on home solar power systems and realize there is a lot to learn and consider in choosing a system. Ecohouse was very helpful as we went through this. More focused and professional than anybody else we dealt with. Importantly they quoted and delivered exactly the system we settled on. I would unhesitatingly advise you to include them in your search.

Very Glad I did it!!!

We contracted with Ecohouse Solar in the summer of 2017 to have solar panels installed on our roof. We chose Ecohouse Solar because we wanted to support our local business community in Columbus, Ohio, but as importantly, we had also received high recommendations from several home owners who contracted with Ecohouse prior to our contractual agreement. The company staff were very knowledgeable about their product and provided us with a very good design plan. Subsequent installation went very smoothly. Their company also provided professional guidance to us as we worked with County Inspection and our electricity provider AEP. Ecohouse also directed us to a State program which provides very low interest rate loans to home owners installing energy efficiency products. We are also looking forward to receiving the 30% tax exemption on our purchase. We look forward to seeing our electric bills get smaller each month, while also knowing that we are doing our part to make a positive impact on our environment.

When considering going solar, I had friends recommend a few companies they had gone with/researched and Ecohouse popped up more than once. We received quotes from two different companies and are very happy with our decision to go with Ecohouse Solar. They were very honest and upfront about all costs and installation procedures. They also took responsibility to ensure that it would be safe to do a roof layover instead of replacing our current roof (simply due to age) which saved us a ton of expense. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing. Fortunately for us, we believe we are in our forever home so we look forward to enjoying our 20 kW system for years to come.
