Latest good review thumbs up

Recommended!

Install took a little longer than I hoped for, but John and his team have been very helpful along the way and very committed to making everything right. I feel like I have been well taken care of and most importantly, promises were kept. The Solar System is beautiful, state of the art, and working as expected. Their support after the sale has been great too. Highly recommended. Thanks!

Latest bad review thumbs down

They need to work on their project management skills...a lot

Let me say first of all that I'm happy with my 7kW system (Enphase micro inverters/Trina panels). The part I'm not very happy about is the very unreliable project scheduling and lack of communication. My system was supposed to be installed in February. It was actually installed in May. Then it took multiple emails and phone calls to BGB, Northwest Energy and the city of Helena. Turns out BGB didn't schedule an inspection until about 3 weeks after the panels were installed. Once that was completed, I had to wait for NWE to install a net meter. The result was...I had the system sitting on my roof (already over 3 months later than promised) for an additional 6 weeks, without producing a single kWh. The system finally went live on June 9th. I'm sure if I hadn't regularly pestered Johnny at BGB, those panels would still not be producing today.

Reply from Bozeman Green Build: Dear Holger, Thanks so much for your review! Thanks for all of the 5-star acknowledgements! Something that went unmentioned in your review is that BGB Inc is committed to making our customers 100% financially whole in the case that we incur unforeseen delays. In your case we credited back the value of your lost production time as well as the interest on the loan you had taken out for the project. Yes, it can be frustrating to have a project not move forward as quickly as it should. In the case that that happens, it is our firm committment to make sure that folks are compensated for any lost production, and that they are reimbursed for the "cost" of the funds they may have borrowed. Happy to hear that you are enjoying your system! Thanks!

Bozeman Green Build Solar Experience

TLDR: pros Great customer service, clean installation, easy to work with. Cons communication was spotty at times, transformer upgrade, system online confirmation didn't take place. We picked this group as they were established and had good feedback. Their pricing was competitive with others we had quotes with as well. We paid for our system out of pocket and got a great low interest loan through a state program. This allowed equipment to be ordered and escalated our installation date. System install went smooth and quick. They did a nice job with the interior work in the shop for the inverter unit. One hiccup that came up was that our neighbors got solar and had a pretty big system installed. With the size of our system we needed a new transformer to facilitate our targeted size. BGB absorbed the cost of this and NWE owned the installation of this. This added a little time to the process. Around this time I believe the pm working with us left. We eventually reached out and the owner did a great job carrying out the project. New PM was assigned our project, basically at tail end. When inspections and everything were complete she came by to power on the unit (we were out of town). She did this via an external switch and indicated the system was on. I was instructed to check on the power generation in the following weeks (I did not and assumed all was well as I've had a pretty hectic summer and lost track of this). The system was actually off inside the shop so it was not generating for a bit of time after we expected it to be on. This was my miss but we were told someone would be by the next week to onboard us to the app and give a walkthrough of the system. That didn't happen and when I realized it I checked on the system and concluded that it wasn't producing. Their team was quick to respond. Again the owner took command and got a tech out to assist us and evaluate the system. We got it online and had some issues with it powering down. The tech came out again to evaluate the system and was having a difficult time getting in touch with the hardware tech support. I ended up modifying a configuration that was causing the system to disengage whence it reached a specific generation amount. Due to the time down and such, BGB graciously offered to reimburse us for the savings we missed out on via generation. I can confirm that they followed through on that - not something I'd expect most people to do but was pleasantly surprised. The system has been online since the config change and I'm quite pleased with it. On top of looking great on the interior and exterior, it works real well. Seen an impact in power bills already. Really had a great experience with BGB. As with all partnerships like this you should expect hiccups. It's just how it goes. What's important is how graciously you both navigate the bumps to the finish line. I'm impressed with this group and have referred them to friends, co-workers and neighbors (and will continue to do so). Thanks for the upgrade.

Bozeman Green Build

Great to work with, stand behind their work. My BGB solar array installed 5+ years ago continues to perform at or above predictions, and has been maintenance free.
