John was involved in every step and was patient with my questions. Analyzed my past annual usage and designed a system that I expect to cover 100% of my energy needs. Installed on October '17 and my bill went from my $220.00 equalizer payment to $4.08 for November! Couldn't be happier!

Solar power with style

I started researching solar installers by reading reviews of the experiences of others, just as you may be doing right now. I came across Black Platinum Solar and the reviews I read were all glowing. I did more research before making my decision to use Black Platinum. What a great company to work with JoAnn and Toni in the office and John the owner were all professionals. They got everything moving, scheduled, coordinated and completed on time and on budget. John and his crew were exceptional. All the conduits and power lines are run in the attic or in the walls. Nothing is left exposed for an unsightly installation. John uses the best products available on the market. Each panel has its own power convert...no large converter in the garage making that horrible humming noise other providers install. John's power estimates are right on the money. I produce what I consume with a little margin to spare it goes back to the grid. You cannot go wrong giving John an opportunity to give you a quote for your installation. Black Platinum Solar was recommended to us by a friend who used them. I found John Black extremely knowledgeable and very approachable. His installers were efficient and kept the premises clean. I also like that they installed pigeon screening so the birds cannot get under the panels. I would highly recommend this company.

Best Solar Installer in all of Arizona

We contacted John Black after carefully reviewing the posts on Solarreviews.com. Since solar is a large, upfront cost, we had questions: lots of questions and John Black is very knowledgable and responsive. When it came time to have our panels installed John and his crew showed up when they said, did the work as agreed and were the ultimate professionals. These guys are the BEST!

John gave the best equipment, service, and price right out of the gate. They completed the work on time and made sure we were completely satisfied before they left. What we ended up with is a great system at a great price topped off with the best service and install possible. Two of my neighbors had panels installed by other companies, and they have been waiting 5+ months to get a meter from APS. My panels were installed after theirs, and turned on within 3 weeks, because John and the folks at Black Platinum know the business better than the big guys.

Best move I made

All the options were given and every question answered. I went with John because I felt he could handle any of the curve balls that come up in this kind of installation/upgrade. I was correct on both accounts. It turn out to be a great experience. I have zero regrets on any of the choices I made and I know I have a quality system. It's been up and running for 3+ years with zero need for physical maintenance. All the inverters are monitored via the internet and if an upgrade is needed it happens that way.

A great job by a fantastic company

We moved to Scottsdale in May 2016 and tried to save on electric costs by keeping the house warmer during peak hours and scheduling our electric intense appliances during off peak times during the summer. We ended up being uncomfortable most of the time and our electric costs were still very high. We decided to make the move to solar after reading about the negative impact to payback benefits with changes that APS wanted to make. After getting multiple estimates and we found that Black Platinum stood out above all the others. Every review was "5" of "5" and none had anything negative to say about the company. Working with John Black was a pleasure. John kept us informed of the process the entire and we never had to do anything along the way except make the incremental payments - all the other companies wanted most of the costs upfront. We would highly recommend Black Platinum for your solar needs.

Full Service

I share a deep long love of the our earth; our responsiblities to be respectful, wise, prudent. I come from coal people, but when I had the opportunity, location and resources to invest in solar energy, I jumped. Problems occurred quickly...inverters that could not withstand the heat had to be replaced. The installer went under. I was left with wasted economies, ineffecient panels and communications. General disappointment. Black Platinium responded and I could not be more pleased. Professional, over and above response to queries and solutions. The entire system was overhauled. Thank you, thank you. I am once again playing a small, but important role in energy. I look forward to the reports showing production, and "trees" planted.

Black Platinum is the only worthy installer

How is it possible a contractor received so many 5 stars and nothing else? Because Black Platinum is that good. John and his crew were the most honest and trustworthy contractors I have worked with and they do things right. His crew has been with him for several years and the owner, John was there throughout the entire install. I had kicked around the idea of solar for about two years, but every sales guy I talked to was just that, a salesman. None of them felt genuine and every one of them made me feel like I was somehow going to get screwed in the end. One talked to me about leasing, which I just can't even comprehend the value aspect of that. After I stopped looking for several months, I talked with a neighbor who recently had solar installed. Compared to other neighbor's with solar, his looked the most aesthetically appeasing. He had nothing but praise for Black Platinum. He gave me Black Platinums contact info and I contacted John shortly after. John discussed his company, the way he works, and gave me a ballpark estimate of the costs and amount of electricity I could produce. Over the next couple of days, he sent me several quotes for different sized systems. I then sat on it for a couple of weeks while I explored the value proposition. Not once did I feel pressured by him as I did my own research. Once I figured out my funding, I had already known Black Platinum was the easy decision for me. Although I signed the contract with Black Platinum in late summer/early fall, I wanted to hold off the project until the end of the year so I could recoup some of my cash outlay in only a couple of months with the tax rebate. I've heard stories about APS taking forever approving the connection agreement, but he assured me it was probable that it would be done by the end of the year. He had a good relationship with APS. They started with the rail mounts at the end of November and the LG panels and Enphase microinverters mid -December. The project was completed on time and approved by APS by the end of the month, exactly as we expected. No anxiety on my part whatsoever. Now I work close to he and my wife was home majority of the time during the install and I can't give enough praise about the crew and John. John always kept open communication with me via text/phone/email so I always knew the status of what was happening and the progress. Each one of his employees was easy going and fun to talk to. I felt comfortable providing them access to my garage while we were not there. John even slightly changed the design because he felt one section would be an eyesore while in the pool. Their install was clean and professional. Conduit to the breakers was run through the wall rather than outside. Microinverters are on each individual panel rather than one or two giant boxes mounted next to the breaker panel. It just looks professional. I watched another neighbor behind me go through an install with cheap looking panels installed by what looked like a bunch of high schoolers who walked all over the panels, conduit running down the outside of the wall... Total crap job. I could see footprints on their solar panels for months. At the end, all broken roof tiles were replaced, the patch job on the drywall was perfectly matched, and we are generating electricity as expected. The app is pretty cool which shows my production and consumption, something which I am told is new from Enphase. I have nothing but good feelings about my experience with Black Platinum. I wish all contractors provided the same level of care and professionalism and managed my expectations as well as John and Black Platinum. It was truly a pleasure.

Let me save you some time – as you will find a reoccurring theme as you real all the reviews for Black Platinum Solar and Electric. They simply deliver real value and savings – with an uncompromising focus on customer delight (and I mean customer delight, not customer satisfaction - and I don’t hand out glowing reviews unless they are truly warranted). I started my search for a solar installer with the typical sales call – and ended up getting three other quotes from some of the better named (and advertised) companies. After getting these quotes, I decided if I was serious about this, I had better do some research – which led me to the Solar Reviews website. This is where I found Black Platinum – and like you, was surprised, hesitant, and at the same time - excited at the number of exceptional reviews. Is it really possible for an unknown (to me) company to get such high ratings? It has to be worth a phone call – and this is where all my doubts and worries faded away. Hello John Black. John and his wife took all the time I needed (which was quite a bit) to answer all my detailed questions and to put my worries at ease. I am a pretty meticulous person when it comes to details – and John never once pressured me to buy. He simply took the time to answer my questions – and provided the details when needed. This is when I knew Black Platinum was a company I wanted to do business with. If he would spend this much time and effort with me, without getting a dime for his time, and based on all the other reviews – it had to be. The entire process was simply smooth and easy. John takes care of all the paperwork, design, and installation. He provides timely communications and his staff is equally considerate during the install. In and out in two days. All questions and concerns addressed directly and in a timely fashion by John. From start to finish – the process took less than 2 months. And after my first full month of generation – my electric bill was cut by 90%!! I was on the equalizer plan for $240/month, and my November bill was $24.02. Simply the best...!

My wife and I did a good bit of shopping around when we were considering a solar system for our house. I read the excellent reviews for Black Platinum and emailed them for an appointment. I heard back immediately, unlike some of the other companies, and set up a meeting with John Black, the owner. John came over and gave us a detailed estimate of what kind of system would best serve our needs. We live in a historic neighborhood in downtown Phoenix and we discovered that our ancient breaker box would need to be updated, and that a variance would need to be submitted in order to place our solar box in a place that wouldn't disrupt the historic integrity of the exterior. John gave us an estimate which included a complete update to our electrical service - increasing us from a 100-amp panel to a new, drastically improved 200-amp set-up - and with all of this extra work (which, by the way, included a new resurfacing of our foam roof) he came in below any of the other estimates we received (which did not include any of these added features). We got a full 24-panel system with the latest LG panels and the best inverter system available. John and his crew were the consummate professionals, showed up on time and really went the extra mile in adapting the solar system to our home's particular needs. If you're considering going solar, I really can't recommend this small, local company highly enough. John really cares about what he is doing, and it shows in the craftsmanship and professionalism he demands from his team. Don't go anywhere else... these guys are the real deal...

Solar Panel Installation

Dear Prospective Solar Buyers, Kathy and I were elated to select Black Platinum as our installers. I am a 30 year veteran Deputy Sheriff (retired), and Kathy is a Senior Vice President of a large corporation. For 20 of her years as S.V.P., she was in charge of, Customer Service. I have, over the last three decades had to deal with various victims who have been "scammed" by unscrupulous Business Owners,and or, contractors. Unfortunately, many of these calls end up as a " CIVIL M,ATTER ", and they must proceed with litigation through the Court system. I was not able to arrest them unless i had "probable cause" that an actual theft had occurred. Some of the victims were in tears when i explain why I cannot arrest them,and they need to contact a Lawyer. Nothing to worry about with Black Platinum,and John Black. Amazing one stop Shopping. Toni and John Black are Professionals with a Genuine Personal Touch. From Start to Finish which was ahead of schedule we had total confidence and trust in their Word and Performance. Our Install was even Praised by the County Inspector which said it was the Cleanest and Smart Install He'd seen! Now on our 3rd year without any issues at all, our monthly bills with credits are about 7 dollars. The 5 kw system provides a life long annuity which has been an important part of out Retirement. I wanted to give some thought on how I would write this review because I too based my decision to hire a solar installer on what others have said.ln today's world of slick advertisements and high dollar ads you get herded into the mainstream of the solar industry's most popular and nationwide solar installers. Enter SolarReviews,I came across their website as I had already gotten four quotes and was about to make a decision between leasing or purchasing. After reviewing solar installers in SolarReviews (some of which I had quotes from) l came across Black Platinum Solar and Electric. At the time I reviewed Black Platinum Solar and Electric I was immediately impressed with their high rating and decided to read further. I thought how is it in today's world a solar installation company can have a perfect 5 star rating! After reading most of their reviews a common theme became apparent, personal service from this family run business. Toni Black got the ball rolling with a questionnaire requesting information on our electricity usage.She explained the process and told use what to expect as we moved along. Folks this process takes a few months from start to finish but APS has added personal and it has speeded up.We were kept in the loop as John Black reviewed our usage and home location to design the best system based on our current needs and future needs.We will be retiring in a few short years and will consume more electric as we are home more.After talking to John about purchasing versus leasing it really was in our best interest to purchase a system based on the incentives currently available. Passionate a word not used very often in any service industry and is one of Black Platinum Solar and Electric's main reasons for their highest ranking.John not only is the owner but a designer and installer! Excellent Experience and Value

I received 3 different bids on my solar project. Black Platinum was the 3rd and final company. A friend referred me to Black Platinum. John at Black Platinum was excellent to work with. He explained many different aspects of solar and how he would design and complete the project. John was the only person who said he could (and did) design a system that would provide all of our electric needs. Other companies said they could not put enough panels on our roof to produce all of our electric needs. From the first call the experience working with Black Platinum and John Black was excellent. John is the owner of the company and truly cares about providing excellent customer service. John's team was great to work with and informed us along the way of all aspects of the project and they delivered on time and with no surprises. The project was painless for us from start to finish - John handled all permitting and inspections with APS and the City. Very satisfied customer

About two years ago we had solar panels installed on our home. We are so happy we did. Just as and example, our home is fairly large (2700 sq.ft) ranch home. Our July bill without the panels was over $450.00. Our July bill in 2016 was under $40.00. John Black went into detail about the installation process. When it was finished, everything was cleaned up and even some small drywall problems came up, they fixed everything like new. I would recommend John and his company to anyone thinking about installing solar. And his employees were amazing and very helpful. Very nice people to deal with.

An all-around great experience.

When I first read the reviews for Black Platinum, I thought they had been given marks that would be very difficult to live up to. I was mistaken. The whole process from initial contact through installation went smoothly. It's unusual nowadays to deal directly with the company owner, but, it does make the communications lines shorter which, in turn, expedites the entire project. John Black and his crew are professional and pleasant individuals who did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, with professionalism and sometimes even humor. My first contact with Black Platinum was in early February of this year (2016) and I've just received my electric bill for May covering the first full month with Solar. And, it's great!!

When I was researching solar companies I looked at a lot of reviews. I was impressed at the high satisfaction ratings and the number of positive customer responses of Black Platinum Solar & Electric, and John Black. There were so many positive responses that I was actually a little skeptical. That being said, I will now add my positive experience with John and Black Platinum. I was initially a little nervous of going with a smaller company, but after my initial meeting with John Black, I felt comfortable moving forward with them. From the first day John came out to my house to give me a bid on my solar, I was impressed with both his knowledge and willingness to answer all of my questions. I liked the fact that the owner of the company was available on site from the initial meeting until the project was completed, if not the whole work day, at least for part of it. It is not often that you get the owner of the company involved with every phase of the project. I was kept informed of the schedule of the project. John and his crew were there when they said they would be and were very friendly and professional. The materials used for the project were top quality.The work performed was very clean. There were no hidden or surprise costs added to the project. My solar has been running a couple of moths now and my production is very good. I have had no problems to this point. I also like the monitoring system which was included with the solar. I highly recommend giving Black Platinum Solar & Electric a call for your solar or electric projects.

Completely Satisfied by Black Platinum!

Black Platinum installed an 18-panel, enphase microinverter system at our residence in Phoenix, Arizona almost one year ago. It has performed flawlessly during this period. We have been net zero electricity usage and have credits built up since January that will allow us to breeze through the summer with no electricity charges other than taxes and admin costs (about $17/month). John Black and his entire crew were completely professional, responsive and timely. Pricing was also very competitive. We recommend Black Platinum highly, without reservation!
