TERRIBLE PRODUCT & SERVICE
We bought a system from Freedom Forever / Boundless Energy. Two months in and it doesn’t work!!!!!!!!!! An hour on hold to speak with a useless woman overseas. Another hour on hold to speak with someone in the US to tell me it will be 7-14 BUSINESS DAYS to fix!!!!!! Paid $60k and two months later it doesn’t work and they don’t afford you any escalation whatsoever. HORRENDOUS SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! TERIBLE PRODUCT!!!!!!

Excellent Company for All of Your Solar Needs
When I purchased this house in 2018, the solar installation company the previous owners had used had gone out of business. I knew zero about solar panels or their maintenance so luckily for me, I found New England Clean Energy. They came right out, explained the system and did some upgrades at a very reasonable cost. They also mapped the system so I can track it on the Solar Edge app. Recently the app stopped being able to record data. They sent a super technician to replace a faulty plug and the app started communicating again. Whether you’re looking for a new system or a great company to help you manage it, NECE is the only company you should contact. Highly recommend!

Great experience start to finish
I had planned on going with a cheaper solar company, but the reviews were terrible. After a lot of research I found New England Clean Energy. They had great reviews and lived up to expectations. The whole process was smooth and trouble free from beginning to end. They even convinced me that I didn't need nearly as many panels as the other company was trying to sell me. The sizing has been perfect. This last summer I made just a little more electricity than I needed, resulting in a $15 credit each month. I could not be happier.

NECE - The Best
NECE just finished a large 20kWh dual array system with REC panels, enphase inverters and FranklinWH backup for us. They did an amazing job. Folks that helped us design the solution were great and the installation process was flawless. The system is outperforming our expectations and we are extremely happy we chose to work with NECE. I highly recommend this integrator.

Still Happy 1 Year Later
This recommendation is overdue, as our installation was in August of 2024. But better late than never! Todd was awesome. Addressed all of my concerns every step of the way. New England Clean Energy really set themselves apart from other companies with great product, great price, great warranty, and great service. There were some issues with getting documents signed at the end of the project that delayed getting the system online by a few weeks, but certainly the town played a factor in all of that. A minor issue in the grand scheme of things. Overall, I could not be happier with our decision to fully electrify our house and go with New England Clean Energy for our solar. After a year, the results are in and it was worth every penny!

Greaat Company
The three electricians from your company installed the solar array quickly and expertly. They explained the system clearly and answered all of our questions, which we appreciated. The foreman on the job (J. J.) was very easy to understand; he was attentive and friendly throughout the process and obviously very competent. We will definitely recommend your company very highly to anyone we know who are thinking about installing solar panels. Thank you very much. Kate Lucey and Steve Peisch

Best of the Best!
There are many excellent solar energy companies out there. For us though, New England Clean Energy is the best of the best. We chose them for three main reasons: 1. Personal recommendation. Online reviews help to narrow down the list of candidates, but a personal recommendation goes even farther. An engineer friend of ours recommended them based on his own experience. 2. Fewer solar panels. New England Clean Energy offers higher wattage panels, so fewer were needed to cover our energy consumption. 3. Hidden electrical conduits. We've seen other solar installations where unsightly conduits and the Enphase box are visible from the street. New England Clean Energy came up with a solution that hid them all, resulting in a much cleaner look. The staff at New England Clean Energy are outstanding. Whether it's sales, project management, installation or admin, they all are knowledgeable, courteous and professional. For all of these reasons, we highly recommend New England Clean Energy for your solar project.

Recent Service call
NECE installed our PV system in Nov 2022. The installers were great and we are extremely pleased with the performance of the system since then. Over the 2+ years we've had a couple of Micro Inverters fail. NECE has been very responsive in getting these replaced under warranty. For the most recent failure, they worked around snow/ice on the roof to make the repair. We've been very pleased with our decision to use NECE.

Goes the Extra Mile
The entire experience with NECE was fantastic, from the initial sales discussions with the owner, Mark, to the communication with the office team and the actual installation. Mark has a highly technical sales approach and truly knows his stuff. Among all my interactions with other companies, Mark was the most honest and knowledgeable. On installation day, they exceeded expectations by going above and beyond, spending almost the entire day exploring all possibilities to find a way to wire the panels through the roof, down the walls, and into the basement so that no conduit would be visible on the exterior - much appreciated!

Let the Sun Shine
The process of getting the 26 panel system installed was super easy. New England answered all of my question and explained the whole process very well. All the guys that did the installation were friendly and courteous. The electrical work was very neatly done and looks professional. I would recommend this company over any of the other solar companies out there. Now I just have to have the electric company come and switch my meter. At that point I can watch the dial go backwards on a nice sunny day.

Great Experience
I was very impressed with the people and entire process from sales through installation. The sales person was extremely knowledgeable about how to design the system and also educate me on how it works. He was very responsive to my many questions I had throughout the entire process. The installation team was probably the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. They accommodated my requests to make some adjustments on how the brackets were to be installed and were also always responsive to phone calls and emails. Not once did I wait for them to get back to me. They also installed some monitoring equipment for me, twice! No charge. They were very friendly, organized, and knew exactly what they were doing. I highly recommend New England Clean Energy.

Great Installation!
In September 2024 New England Clean Energy installed a 22-panel solar system on my roof. The sales, design, installation, town inspections for the project went extremely well. During the sales discussions software was used to evaluate the roof size and shape, house orientation, and the effect of nearby trees for several possible panel configurations to determine the optimal power output. During installation the installers offered several good options for running the wiring to minimize visibility on the exterior of the house. The final installation seemed very high quality. Installation required about 2 days including several hours of delay due to heavy rain. The installation passed the town fire, building, and electrical inspections, and was accepted by National Grid without any problems. The system has been up and running flawlessly for several weeks. I recommend New England Clean Energy as an excellent choice for solar projects.

Happy Solar Orphan - System Repair
My Solar PV system had been operating for a little over 10 years when my power inverter appeared to have failed. My system installer, Astrum Solar, got out of the residential solar business, and although they did honor their 10 year warranty contract, it expired before my system failed. I’m now what is referred to as a “Solar Orphan”. What was I to do? So I searched the internet and found others in my predicament. Not many Installers are willing to take on Solar Orphans. While searching I came across positive reviews for New England Clean Energy (NECE) who services orphaned systems. I gave them a call. They responded promptly to emails and texts. They were extremely helpful and were willing to repair my system, and deal with SolarEdge, the power inverter manufacturer. My inverter was still under warranty so I arranged to have the replacement delivered to my house. NECE arranged with SolarEdge to be the new service provider and got my SolarEdge account switched over. When the new inverter arrived, NECE set up an appointment and sent a technician to test my system and install the inverter. The technician arrived on time (can you believe it!), was friendly, courteous, and very competent. He ran into some difficulties between the old and new versions of the SolarEdge inverter but quickly solved the issues. Within an hour, the new inverter was mounted on my house in place of the old, it was communicating with all the optimizers and solar panels, and I was back in production. An hour after that I could see my solar panels and production rates via the SolarEdge app. This demonstrated how savvy the technician was and the overall competence of NECE. Another tidbit: once I called NECE and I couldn’t get through. A few minutes later I receive a text message asking what’s up. I hadn’t even left a callback message! Even a week after the repair they helped me locate a reputable and helpful Aggregator so that I can once again collect RECs (Renewable Energy Credits). Clearly, NECE is exceptional, and I told them so. You don’t’ often get that kind of customer experience. That’s why I highly recommend them. And if my experience is any measure, I’m quite sure NECE’s full installations are just as good. In a way, I wish I had selected NECE as my original installer.

1 year and great production
Our system was installed spring 2023. Todd gave a great thorough assessment; compared to other companies that were more sales oriented. He provided us with data that was helpful. After the paperwork, permits, and energy source contracts; solar installation was quick in only a day. But most importantly fast forward a year and our solar production is great and saving us money.

I'm an orphan solar panel system owner and I spent 2 years trying to get a company to determine what problem I was having (a raccoon), figure out how to correct it, and get the system operating again. Thankfully I finally found New England Clean Energy and boy am I glad I did: They immediately were engaged, came promptly, took care of the problem and explained everything to me...I will be a customer for life!! Exceptional install, price, value and great partner.
We used NECE after researching a ton of different solar companies (got around 15 quotes). After talking with Todd on the sales side about their process I was impressed with his knowledge and proactive suggestions to make sure the system was designed to best fit us. Todd was never pushy during the sales process and also didn't trying to say "All other companies won't do a good job". He was very thorough and detail oriented. Once we past the sales stage, Leah was assigned as our project manager and she made quick work of getting the permits for the system and arranging for the installation team. She was very responsive throughout the process and would ask the appropriate team within NECE if I had a question that she didn't know the answer to. Installation took two days, where all wiring was run internally. Mike, the master electrician, was incredible. We wanted internal wire runs with no conduit, and he went above and beyond to make sure that it was done that way, even though it wasn't the easiest drop from the attic to our basement. Mike and his install team were incredibly courteous to not only us, but also when talking to each other. He consistently would consult me if there was any change in where he though a wire may go or if he had to cut a hole to bring a wire somewhere. Mike, and his team, were absolutely amazing and I can't give them enough praise. The follow up after the installation with the city inspections and utility meter swap were quick and painless. Overall, I would highly recommend NECE, they were great partners throughout the entire process and if we need to ever expand the solar install, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to them.

Satisfied with installation
We got a roughly 7kW installation through NECE on our home. We were satisfied with the professionalism, communication, and quality of installation that New England Clean Energy provided. We would recommend them as a solar installer for people living in Massachusetts or the New England area!

We were just able to turn our panels on much quicker than I expected. Everyone involved in our project was very knowledgeable and helpful. We spoke with 5 solar companies before going with New England clean energy. What really sold us was every other company came with their pdf of “this is the solar plan we made for you” where our sales person Todd opened the program they use to create the plan and played through different scenarios as we asked about putting panels on different parts of the roof. It felt more like we were coming up with a plan together, not just being sold a prepackaged plan. Another thank you to our project manager Leah and Stephanie in the office for always keeping us in the loop and responding to emails clearly and quickly.

Good installation, good follow up
Easy to deal with, quick response. When there was a software issue after almost a year, they stayed on top of it, and when they couldn't deal with it remotely, sent a tech who sorted it out.

Exceeds Expectations
New England Clean Energy Clean, courteous, hard working and meticulous are only a few ways to describe installation crew that professionally installed my families PV solar system on our home. My wife and I were hesitant to make such a drastic change and investment to our home but New England Clean Energy made it a pressure free experience and we have been ecstatic with our decision. We met with over a dozen solar companies and many proved they would not be able to meet our high standards. From Mark in sales to the site supervisor JJ, New England Clean Energy proved they were right choice and delivered as promised!

Solar system service in the Massachusetts area.
We've have owned our system for almost 8 years and had a Enphase microinverter fail. Enphase sent me a replacement microinverter and the search began to find someone to do the work as the original installers are now in PA. After multiple contacts, I found New England Clean Energy who quickly responded and I have to say, they are terrific! Definitely recommend them if you are a Massachusetts solar system owner or one looking for a new installation. Great communications with a great service team!! The team that came to do the replacement we're extremely friendly, knowledgeable and highly professional. I will definitely call on these folks for any future needs! 5 Star service from start to finish!!

Great company and solid experience
We recently had a 9 kW system installed on our home in West Roxbury. We spent time looking at other installers including Tesla, but felt that going with a local company would be worth it, especially when it came to communicating with them and ensuring that we got the system we wanted. I'm glad we did, because New England Clean Energy was very responsive and always helpful whenever we had questions. Todd helped us immensely from the sales and design perspective, and was not pushy at all- he actually paid attention to what we wanted from the system, and what we didn't want. One example is that we initially thought about getting a battery; however, we learned that with our underground power lines in Boston city, power outages are very infrequent, and the grid essentially is our battery (because of netmetering). This allowed us to save a considerable amount of money on something that would likely not add much value. Our project manager, Suzanne, couldn't have been more helpful and was always ensuring that we knew the next steps in the process and the anticipated time it would take for them to happen. She was very responsive when we had questions (this is why we were glad to choose a local installer). Lastly, the installation process was very impressive. The team did a very clean installation, and it was clear that they were very efficient, experienced, and professional. We have had multiple different kinds of contractors doing work on our home in the past, and we almost inevitably end up having to clean up a lot afterwards. Not this time - the team really left very little trace they were there, except of course for our new solar system. Overall, I would certainly recommend New England Clean Energy to anyone who wants a transparent, professional experience, with a local company who is responsive and does a great job.

Can't Go Wrong With New England Clean Energy
Our experience with New England Clean Energy was excellent from start to finish. Their 5 step process was very helpful in defining what to expect from them and what is expected from us. Our first contact was with one of their Sales Consultants and he did a great job helping us understand the size of the system, the equipment that would be installed, what we could expect in the way of system performance, and, of course, the cost and benefits. The engineering step is focused on system layout, locations of panels and the materials that will be needed. The operations step covered permitting with local authorities, material ordering and the creation of the project installation schedule. The installation step involved the on-site construction of the system, the inspection by local authorities leading up to this issuance of the Certificate of Completion. In the final step, the utility company installed a new meter and we were given permission to operate the system. This entire process took about 3 months. The group that we had the most exposure to was the installation team. The lead person was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The other crew members were also very respectful of our property and left the site clean and tidy. All in all, the crew was hard-working. I don't think they ever took a break the whole time they were here. I have no hesitation in recommending New England Clean Energy to people thinking about going solar.

Awesome Company
Worked with the team for a 16kw system consisting of 2 ground arrays and panels mounted on an auxiliary building. It was far from a cookie cutter install and we had to do some iterating to land on a workable plan. Every member of the team was responsive, patient and reliable. The install team was very efficient, clean and a pleasure to interact with. The install itself is very clean and we are excited to flip the switch once the utility completes their part.

Outstanding Service!
I can't tell you how amazing it has been to work with Jessica! She has been a ROCKSTAR in helping to resolve an issue with my system not auto reporting after the meter was swapped out by a 4G one! I didn't purchase my system originally through NECE (that installer neglected to mentions until after holes were drilled into my brand new roof that I'd need to spend another $7K on tree removal that was never used in their ROI calculations nor mentioned during the entire process). But based on my interactions with Jessica and the tech who did his best to assist, I wish I'd used NECE for my original installation! What a pleasure it's been to work with smart, competent, service-oriented solar professionals!

Good install, but still not online after five months
We knew from friends that the installation date would be an unknown but the excellent work would make this uncertainty worth it. The solar array was designed pre-install but the battery location was decided by the installer on the day. However, it’s now almost six months post install (Jan 2023) and the panels and batteries are sitting there not doing anything while we pay power bills. This is due to changes in energy storage permitting occurring in Dec 2022 post contract execution, but pre-install. These standards were not incorporated into the plans by New England Clean Energy (NECE), or detected by our town as a permit for an energy storage device was not submitted and the initial drawings provided to the town did not include batteries. When the first inspector turned up they saw the batteries and walked away as they weren’t on the plans. We gave it a few weeks and asked for an update, we were told by NECE that everything was okay and we were just waiting on the fire department for battery inspection. They said they couldn’t get hold of the FD and it would be useful if I could try and speak to them. I secured an inspection time and gave NECE >48hrs headsup of it, NECE did not attend this on April 3rd. The plans did not include batteries still and our FD’s interpretation of standards meant they could not permit the system as no crash protection was in place. We were given clear guidance on what they wanted. From this time until now NECE has spent three months finding the cheapest way to meet the FD needs despite serious personal reasons we have to get battery backup online asap. We remained cooperative while this was called a permitting delay. However once a plan was finally determined NECE advised us that they will be reasonable and cover the cost of relocating the system they drilled into our concrete foundation to another wall in the garage, but we need to discuss the extra costs of a PE stamp and safety bollard install. Looking at prior reviews not knowing town codes seems to be common across reviews, and 100% it is not easy to know different town nuances, and the guidance provided by the State to installers is very poor, but navigating code is not the customers job and once we had what the FD wanted done on Apr 3rd we should have developed an action plan. It varies town by town, it’s terrible for installers but resolved normally at permitting, but this requires the correct permits and drawings to be submitted. Increased job costs would normally be identified here. I asked NECE managers for a coordinated response in April and heard nothing. We have since helped lobby the state and prodded NECE to use the phone and not just say emails are unanswered. Saying that battery install requirements weren’t enforced for a couple of months after code was released pre-install is not a defense. In April when we got FD guidance we would have discussed additional cost, but poor project management and drawing out the timeline to get compliance costs down when it’s a extra cost they want to be reasonable with us about is not okay after ongoing power bills and the ~95% job cost we have paid in line with payment schedule. We asked about schedule variation in June and the need was discounted by NECE. Plus we still don’t know if the stove will work on batteries, as there is a problem they had on another job and we need to wait and see. Not sure when we’ll find that out as we need to be online first.

Kudos to New England Clean Energy!
After meeting with many solar companies, learning from what they told us and Not what they told us, we were discouraged....until we last met with New England Clean Energy! They were direct and educational, backing up their answers with specific facts, and respectful. Our panels look great on our roof too! The phone app is easy to install and use and is extremely fun to see our energy production, despite having a rainy, cloudy day! We can't wait till we have a sunny day! Communicative and helpful every step of the way
We bought our system from New England Clean Energy partly because they are well-rated. But the tipping point was seeing them mentioned in YouTube videos where a number of homeowners talking about the general topic of solar say '...oh and by the way, we are really happy with New England Clean Energy.' Our own experience has been equally outstanding. Our system is located in Ashland, MA -- 10kV AC with a max DC output of ~7.2kV -- 24 panels with individual inverters. We own the system and expect a dollar break-even of ~8 years (tax incentives help a lot). Where the system will likely last 25 years ...that's a lot of free electricity. There are many small steps to this process, and the company told us (accurately) that this would be a lengthy project. Installation of electric boxes, conduits, and meters takes a few hours. Installing the panels is a day or two. The rest is paperwork, permitting, inspections, and startup permissions -- and also for us, having our roof redone ahead of time and trees removed -- both long planned. The panels aren't particularly heavy, but it was time for a new roof, and adding solar was the impetus. The inverters and control electronics are made by Enphase (panels by an equally reputable manufacturer). Enphase provides a web service where we can monitor the performance of the system including each individual panel. We've had the system running since October -- around four months. Enough to see it making as much power as we expected. We have net metering, which means that if we make more power than we use, we produce an Eversouce credit balance which helps to cover a month when we might make less than we use. Credits are applied (or used) once a month when Eversource reads our meter and generates a billing statement (daily fluctuations don't matter). To keep us from electrocuting line workers, the inverters shut down during a grid power failure -- that's how every net-metered system works. We had one installation hiccup -- our house turned out to be a bit smaller than originally measured and the system that showed up on the truck was not going to fit. We had two choices -- leave two panels out or mount them on a less efficient surface. In the end, we wound up moving the two orphan panels to a 'summertime' position (when we use the most power) and the hiccup made no material difference. All the same, the company reached out to us and sent a meaningful discount for the momentary anxiety. Very Professional! New England Clean Energy walked us through the installation of a reliable system that is doing the job, and we found them very communicative and helpful every step of the way. I strongly recommend this company.

Excellent experience with New England Clean Energy
We had an excellent experience with New England Clean Energy through the sales and proposal phase to installation and overall project management. Their team responded to questions quickly and provided everything we needed at each phase of the project. There was a change in equipment at one point but they were able offer a comparable option that kept the project moving. We were also happy as they took care of everything for the RI REF program for our rooftop panels. Very highly recommend New England Clean Energy!

SOLAR PANELS installed and generating!
Had all my questions answered by Todd, and smoothly moved into the phases of installing and becoming operational. The wait between inspections and "turn-on" was longer than I had hoped, but NECE had warned me of the possible delay due to local inspections and Electric Co. delays. Finally turned on and very happy with the project. Thank you Todd and NECE for providing me with a great system for my home.

Nice People, But They Have Become Unrealiable
I just had NECE install a second system and battery. Nice people. Flexible enough to take on an unusual project. But not at all the customer-friendly, capable company they were when they did my first system. I can no longer recommend them. I contracted for the system in Feb of 2020. They forgot to apply for permits and so we lost many months until the oversight was discovered. It took until September of 2021 to get it physically installed and the bureaucratic approvals still have not come through (as of July 2022), so I am not getting Smart Credits and my battery is not earning any income. NECE's person for pushing through the paperwork is either completely overwhelmed or incompetent. She just is not getting it done. Worse, she does not return phone calls or emails promptly and is not always accurate when she finally does. I finally had to call Eversource and the city inspector myself to do her job for her. I did that today and we seem to be moving forward now. She has not communicated at all today, nor for the previous week plus. Backing up to the construction process, NECE arrived on site and started work without having the system fully designed and approved by their structural engineer. They discovered as they worked that they could not get their engineer to perform. I finally had to contract with another engineer for design and approval of the sloping panels that went along the south edge of my deck. Then NECE hit me with a change order because their pricing was based on false assumptions about what was structurally acceptable and the structually sound solution was more costly. They would not honor the price in their fixed-price contract with me. Moving back to the post-construction situation, it has been an endless process of emails and phone calls to NECE not being answered in a timely manner, and stuff they said they were doing not being done or not done correctly. For example, one big delay resulted because they submitted my system for approval as a wind system! In July, when I finally called the city inspector who they were blaming for the latest delay of many weeks, he said he had not known there was any problem and had received zero communication from NECE between February and July of this year (2022). So NECE was just BSing me about all the supposed interaction they were having with him. So disappointing to see a good company go bad.

Excellent Company for Installing Solar Panels
I spoke with Mark regarding my solar project at home and he was able to explain the system and how it will meet my current demand. He explained upfront costs and options. The master electrician Mike Richards was very professional and installed the system after consulation with me for the best location for the wiring. I would recommend it to others for your solar panel needs. Thanks.

Do not choose New England Clean Energy for a RI installation!
I began my process with New England Clean energy in July of 2020, and was finally approved for electrical use in Feb 2021. The team came in October to do the initial install, which was done without measuring the roof, and could have fit an additional solar panel. After installation we had national grid come and look at the install in November, and the way they connected the meter was wrong. After changing the way the meter was connected national grid came out again to look and there was another problem with the way they had installed the meter again in December. Then in January when national grid came again to review they had incorrectly labeled the meters. They tried to then relabel them and send a review which failed, and needed to send someone out again. Finally in Feb I was fully approved. During the struggle with National Grid New England Clean Energy didn't seem knowledgeable about the issues that were going on and what was causing National Grid not to approve this install. Between the stickers mishap I turned on and the meter to track how much usage I was losing due New England Clean Energy mistakes. I calculated it at 150ish dollars and asked New England Clean Energy to pay me that sum. They agreed to pay that sum, but it's now been two months and they've stopped all communications with me. I wouldn't hire them again nor does it appear they know how to correctly perform an install in RI.

Easy Peasy
NE Solar made the install very easy. The installers were very courteous and very communicative about the whole process.

Buyer Beware - Get ready to for a terrible experience
Go anywhere else. In short, do your homework. This company over the last hear has become a hot mess. The people in charge of running the projects through to management have a lot to learn and are in over their head. I have spent hours and hundreds of emails chasing them down. Also I was told to pay before the project was completed and meters were set up, being told the project was completed, it was not and 2 months later I have missed the entire summer months for SMART Credits with no recourse. I used them 5 years ago, and they were great, today not even close up through to CEO. If you want to overpay, be treated like dirt, and be lied to throughout the process then yes, select these people. If you want to just work with someone who is honest, knows what they are doing and will see it through to the end, choose anyone else.

Took longer than they said it would
The process started with a great estimate in July. It took two months to get the panel installation scheduled. The installation took two days. The power was shut off by the contractors after the first day and wasn't turned back on as they should have (and we didn't know if it was safe to turn it back on). Then we waited... A building inspection was supposed to happen in November but some engineering documents were missing. There seemed to be a lack of promptness to get the process moving. The electrical inspection did not happen until late January. Turns out another time was needed to install the wi-fi communicator properly through the proper electrical box. There was another hold up with their engineering partner provide proper documents for the building inspection (which was supposed to take place early November). It took several weeks to get the final document from the city and I had to reach out to the city myself; I would I have expected them to handle it without me having to support. Then, the utility said the signage on the system was not adequate, so they had to order new signage and install them, which delayed the process. The contract we signed with them said the work would be done in 6 months and it wasn't. It took about 9 months. The COVID-19 situation probably extended the work but that was already 2 months after they promised to get the work done. With that said, I'm not sure if this was a one-off thing for this company but I wanted to share my experience. I plan to update this if any future work is required.

I am very satisfied with New England clean energy!
I dealt with two solar companies. New England clean energy was without a doubt the far superior company and better customer service to say the least.

100% Trustworthy.
I interviewed at least 5 solar companies. New England Clean Energy had the most straightforward sales process. They did everything they said on time. I live in a custom home; they were not the lowest price but I think they are clearly the best value!

Clear and concise communication throughout
NECE was recommended by a friend who had used their services. After reviewing their competitors, I chose NECE as well. Roy provided clear and concise information and answered all of my questions. What I liked most is that he was not a typical pushy salesperson.

Fantastic job for both solar panels and battery installation
I can't praise the folks at NECN enough - right from the start, they were helpful, professional and clearly committed to the ideas of a cleaner source of electricity. I was also impressed that they were very clear about the cost and conservative about the likely time to recover the cost. Two years after installing the solar panels, we asked them to quote a battery install so that we can manage the fairly frequent outages we get here without using a noisy, dirty generator -- the installation was completed on time and the result looks fantastic and works amazingly well. In addition, Mark told us about the National Grid "Connected Solutions" program where they pay us to supply power from the battery to the grid when demand is high which is another great program. We chose to have solar installed because it's just the right thing to do - but it doesn't hurt that we've recouped 35% of the cost in just over three years! (which puts us in line to recover the complete cost 5 years faster than we originally thought).

It's the right thing to do.
First, with all we know about global warming, going solar is the right thing to do, regardless of the long term cost advantage; another reason to support the Green New Deal in the future, we have to... According to an Australian study, a solar panel on average pays for itself in 1.5 years, in terms of energy spent to manufacture it vs what it produces so it is an excellent positive ratio. I consulted with 5 different companies over the course of a little more than a year, two local and 2 national brands, NE Clean Energy was not the cheapest but they were all fairly close. I went with my guts feeling. They made everything easy, the installation crew was top notch and they are always responsive to answer my question and rework different options. I also feel we have much to gain by supporting local companies vs large national groups.

Excellent at installation on a quirky older home!
New England Clean Energy installed our solar panels in July 2018. I appreciated their informative and no-pressure sales tactics (especially compared to a couple other companies we had contacted for estimates.) They were very good at keeping us informed about all the steps of the planning and permitting process. When the installation happened, I was incredibly impressed by how well they managed to customize the installation to fit all the quirks of our older home -- the inverter is hidden in a formerly-useless exterior cupboard, the panels are mounted on a rack system because of our widely-spaced metal roof trusses, and the electrical connections worked out beautifully in a very cramped space. New England Clean Energy was also so on-the-ball with the utility company that I was able to switch the system on within a few days of installation -- this was a full month ahead of my coworker whose own solar installation by a different company had happened at the same time. So far, I've been getting the amount of electricity produced that I expected, and am very happy with the system, and would highly recommend New England Clean Energy.
