Nice but....

EcoMark is not straight forward in their sales tactics on any level. As everyone says - their people are nice. Their niceness is what made us feel safe and that they were being upfront and completely honest with us. We did not do our due diligence because we trusted what they said. This is totally on us but I want to warn the next person. They are nice, but nice doesn't pay for the $28,000 in solar panels that will never cover our electricity bill (like we were told they would). They are quick and nice on the installation process (that's how they get paid). We have IREA which is not very solar friendly either. We were told by EcoMark that Load Factor Adjustment would not be any issue (even says it in the contract), but we have had a fee between $20 - $35 every month for LFA on our energy bill. The concept and how to avoid the additional cost was never explained and brushed off as a non-issue. If you are looking into solar, ask your current electric company about this. Our homeowners insurance went up to cover the panels on top of our loan payment and our monthly electricity bill. We were told that we would have a $10 monthly fee (the amount to be hooked up to IREA). It can never be that low if you have a family, need to wash clothes and dishes, cook food in your home, or like to heat or cool your home. EcoMark puts enough panels to cover 70 - 75% of your electric needs, thus you can never have the low bill they claim. We did not ask enough questions and were naive to the process. If you really want solar, look at other companies that are honest with you about cost and not one that promises the moon and can not deliver. Call your current electric company to ask how they deal with solar and don't just sign up because they are nice. We will never make our money back on this poor decision and I hope to save others from a similar decision.
