Misleading third party contractors and installation companies
The product offered by SolarEdge though is a superior product in my humble opinion, is not getting all the credit it needed when discussing the lack of customer service. 1 of the third party installation companies, "Elevation" based out of Arizona and servicing the Las Vegas NV area is the most misleading company I have ever come across. I have spent 10 years researching my options with solar in my area and have a specific plan that I want to implement for my home.. Yes "My Home", not the banks not NV Energy's home, But "My Home" and was continually told it can't be done. Which is far from the truth. If I purchase the equipment out right it also belongs to me, so if I wish to have a battery back up system I can. Yet the staff at this ill informed company "Elevation" from Arizona begins to tell me what I can have or not have. If I wish to have the system installed with a battery back up then any extra power going to the soon to be the same as dinosaurs, net metering controlled by a "Transfer Switch" which will eliminate any back feed to the grid then I can. This is not a secret that a simple thing called a transfer switch can handle this assignment. It is used all over the world when switching from your main power source (in my case it would be my Solar Panels) to the back up system (the public utility). The public utility dose not set policy when it comes to building codes. As long as I meet all local state and federally mandated building codes and all codes set by NEC that's all I have to comply with. Yet "Elevation" from Arizona forgets that I'm the customer and they need to do what it is that I want as long as I'm footing the bill. The exact same system that I want installed is available in a DIY kit straight from the manufacture for about $15,000 less. As a homeowner not to mention I am a licensed Journeyman electrician I can be the contractor for the project myself submit for permits and go to my local Home Depot pick up 3-4 guys out front that need work and install it myself the same as the crew that was sent to my home by "Elevation" to do the job that I had to throw off my property because not 1 had any electrical knowledge or were in any way licensed in electricity or carpentry. The communication between both SloarEdge And Elevation of Arizona is practically non existent. The 1 big mistake I made was not contracting a company that had an office in Las Vegas so I could show up and personally file my disapproval.
