I've been mostly pleased with my experience with Boston Solar. They really do take customer service seriously and that is extremely important to me. All of the people I've dealt with from sales reps to installers have been helpful, friendly and reliable. My system went live on September 28. My expectation was that I would receive a monthly incentive check from my electrical company that would begin before my first loan payment was due and would last for the next 10 years. It turns out that I can't even get enrolled in the SMART program until I write this review. I also expected that after a full month of solar I wouldn't be getting an electric bill, or that it would be minimal. I just received my regular electric bill for September which did not reflect any solar production. I've been assured by Boston Solar that the system takes time to catch up, but that it should be ironed out by next month. I've been delaying writing a review, since the financing piece of my decision to go solar was critical to my decision making. I had previously ruled out going solar because I felt I would never live long enough for the install cost to be worth it. So my first loan payment will be due in about two weeks, before I even get enrolled in the Eversource incentive program, and I'll still need to pay the regular electric bill in the meantime. This was not at all communicated to me in a clear manner and it's become a very disappointing end to an otherwise positive experience. I would have preferred to be writing this review after all these unexpected delays were ironed out, because even though Boston Solar considers my installation completed, it's not completed for me until the financing pieces are in place and working as I was led to believe. While many of these payment issues are beyond Boston Solar's control, they do effect how strongly I can recommend Boston Solar. This review should be independent of the application process to incentive programs.
