I asked my local Rooftop Solar folks to help me install grid-tied solar on my house. I'm experienced with electrical work and solar systems as part of my work. I didn't use Rooftop as an installer, but more as project management. They were very happy to do things how I wanted to do it. I asked Rooftop to create stamped plans and order parts for me in order to streamline permitting and save time on sourcing bits. The folks at Rooftop discussed options with me, produced plans that my county permitting office accepted readily and helped organize things with the local power company. Once I completed the install, Rooftop sent one of their licensed electricians to check my work (always a good idea). They were always quick to respond to my questions with helpful information. It may have been less expensive to do it all myself, but using Rooftop solar for some tasks saved me a lot of time. Having experts to help navigate building codes and power company requirements was very valuable.
