I was first told about solar by one of my coworkers. He told me about all of the pros, and the only con I could think of was maybe I would not like the appearance the panels on my roof. After expressing interest to my coworker, a representative from Harvest came to my house to assess how well I could harness the power of the sun. Turns out, my south facing house was ideal. I had to put a small down payment (500) to show my interest and after that it was smooth sailing and I received that down payment back as soon as the panel were installed. Once the panels were installed, my meter was immediately working in reverse. LIPA had come before the panels were put up, so I knew once they were in, I would be working backwards from 00000. This was in 2015 and I have yet to pay for more than the line charge and my monthly panel payment, both of which together (~$100) is less then I would be paying to PSE&G. And on a positive note, they look pretty good!
