In October 2006 I installed a 2.8 kw solar system with a local installer in the Kern River Valley. It has and continues to work fine but after I retired I found I had outgrown its capacity. When I looked around in the late summer of 2017, I found there were no more local installers in the KRV. I knew little on how to proceed except that Weldon, CA, is remote. I checked the SCE website for who had done solar installs in my area and then researched each listed. I settled on Bland Solar because they had good reviews and they were a local company in Bakersfield. I contacted them and went into their showroom next to Trader Joe's. Colter Allison contacted me and after an analysis of my needs based on my usage data available from SCE, we settled on adding 12 panels each with micro-inverters. There were many steps along the way and the multi-step process was slower than I would have liked but the system was installed before Christmas and almost immediately I was producing enough energy to cover my needs. I am pleased that the process was smooth and without pressure and that the result was what I was expecting and within a price range I could afford.
