We decided to purchase our solar panels during our town's solarize campaign. I had been on the committee that chose Earthlight as our preferred installer, so I appreciated their personal touch, nearby location, and especially the high quality product they offered<br />(very sleek all-black panels with individual inverters -- so partial shade is not a problem, all backed by a 25-year warranty on both materials and labor). The installation looks nice, and we've gotten plenty of compliments. The process was smooth and everyone we dealt with was pleasant. Everything seems to be working great -- we like our low monthly electric bills, but are especially happy to be generating power from the sun! <br /><br />We looked at the investment as a fairly reasonably-priced home improvement, and also something that would be attractive to a potential buyer if we decide to move.<br /><br />My advice would be to ask questions and do your research on the possible finance options. We only financed a portion, but once we finally heard about the Sungage Loan it made things easier because we could finance the 30% amount we will be getting back as part of the federal tax credit at 0% interest.
