Review for Southern Current

Highly Professional Contractor Does Exactly What They Say

Once I had the funds for a solar installation, I interviewed four firms selected from the best reviewed companies on Solarreviews.com and from a local home show. The first visit from salesperson, Michael, was on time, pleasant, and informative. He had the majority of the answers to my questions. While my home's roof is complex and not designed for solar (not many surfaces point south), Michael explained that good power production was still possible. He indicated they would be able to use US manufactured panels at a reasonable price (my requirement). Southern Current's design engineer was very knowledgeable about Enphase inverters and problems they had back many years ago. He assured me that the issue was in software design and this had been solved, making them the unit of choice for the panels.
After collecting all the proposals, I decided on Southern Current. They had the best offer for the price.
Installation happened on time (rare for Charleston County) and was finished on time. About a week after that, I noticed a can light had come loose from the ceiling. With no questions asked, an installer was at the house THE SAME DAY I called to replace it in the ceiling (20 foot height).
There was a significant delay in SCE&G's approval process (2 months) which exceeded Southern Current's estimate (2 weeks). Something delayed a form SCE&G required, but I do not know where the ball was dropped.
Once the net meters where installed, I was unable to see the production using the Enphase Monitoring Site. Again, within a very short time, Southern Current send an electrician to find the fault in the sending unit at my house.
Folks, the customer dedication shown by Southern Current is rare in Charleston. I highly recommend them.
