Review for American Solar Direct (out of business)

Going solar can be a time consuming process

When I first looked into solar panels, I thought it would be like most other home improvements and be a relatively easy deal. I select a company, buy some panels, they install them, and I turn it on and save money. Well that's certainly the order of things, but the process itself was not so straightforward in my case. I interviewed three companies and finally chose ASD because I liked my salesperson and had a neighbor who used them and had a good experience. After the site inspection, I had some roof paper issues and a needed to change out my electric panel. ASD took care of both of these items for and kept my price/monthly payment the same, but there were complications with the electrical upgrade. SDGE took forever to schedule a visit to look at what we had on our house and another bunch of time. I don't fault ASD for this, but it definitely added a level of frustration. While this was going on, my HOA sat on our application forever. Once we got through all of this the installation and turn on were smooth and the system has been running well. I do recommend ASD because they worked well with me through the process and have a good program, but if you need a panel upgrade or live in an HOA, expect some delays.
