Good Product, but Long Wait
Now that we have had our system up and running for the last month or so, I can say that we're very happy with the product that Able provided to us. The people that we interacted with were courteous and professional and the products seem to be of high quality - our biggest issue was the amount of time it took from when we put down our initial deposit until the system was up and running. That timeframe was nearly a full year.
I would say that the sales staff is clearly knowledgeable and took the time to go through our options and discussed what would make the most sense for what we wanted to do.
The installers were professional and courteous.
The electricians, in particular, were excellent. They took a lot of extra time to explain just how everything works, what all the knobs and dials are for, and what to expect from our system and the power company.
We also got word from a friend that works at our local power company that the diagrams and communication they received from Able were some of the best they've ever seen.
From a technical aspect, Able is a great company to work with.
Our issue was the timeline for the project. We were led to believe that the project would be complete in roughly 3-4 months but it took nearly a year (from the time we put down our initial deposit until the system was operational). That was very frustrating. During that time, we were paying our electric bill AS WELL AS the payments on the loan we had taken out to pay for the system.
I know that they had issues getting the panels we had ordered (we didn't order anything special - just what the sales rep had offered). Beyond that, believe there were additional delays, but I'm not certain what they were.
I will certainly credit Able in the fact that they took our frustration with the timeline very seriously and did what they could to make up for it. They discounted the system by the amount that we "would have saved" from our electric bill had the system been operational when we had originally expected. Thanks to that, we weren't financially out anything additional, which was very important to us. They also installed the monitoring system for us free-of-charge.
I can't say that the long duration wasn't frustrating - it most definitely was. I will say, to Able's credit, they took our frustration seriously and did what they could to rectify the situation and I'm very appreciative of that.
Now that everything is said and done, I'm happy with the product we have and I'd likely recommend them to a friend (although I'd warn them about the timeline).
