Con ed serves Brooklyn and last jan they doubled their rates without PSC approval because they can pass along natural gas/fuel costs without permission. that burned me up and I began looking for solar. I looked at the big ones, solarworld, sungevity, and others. They were more expensive by 20% and had special requirement. Only leasing, no ownership and no credits, only single family, only commercial, only central inverter etc. After shopping and asking questions I landed YSG. Family run , hands on service, great installers, respond promptly to issues, emails, and know the NYC market . Can get permits, use micro inverters if you want, flexible in installation and service. They did the job in 1.5 days, got approvals, got con ed to change the meter, gave me internet remote access without charging extra, and have a personal relationship. My son used them, my brother in law is about to and I highly recommend David Magid and his team. My payback is 4-5 years after credits and I couldn't be happier. I own the system and don't need anyone's permission to sell my house.

The only hangup was the City with their long permit delays, Con Ed with their likewise long delays to get anything done. But YSg was on top of them. Start to finish, took about 6 months. After 4 months of City approval, took 1.5 days to install and then another 6 weeks for COn Ed to change the meter. Once they came, they installed a defective meter and had to wait 2 weeks to come back again. Just preparing you for the time delay. System works flawlessly so far.Remote access is great and you can check your meter and see how it runs backwards on sunny days. Con ed still gets 18-25 a month for basic charges but that's down from 150-250 so Im happy.
