Our Experience with Fidelity Home Energy

Our first contact with Fidelity provided good introductory information about solar energy in general and specifics about Fidelity Home Energy and their solar panels. This initial information was most helpful; however, we were a bit skeptical and apprehensive to go forward. It was recommended that we consult further with one of the energy experts at Fidelity. Soon afterward we received a call from Charlie Scott, and scheduled an appointment to allow him to give a deeper and broader explanation of the Fidelity solar panel system. <br /> <br /> Charlie was very courteous, informative and helpful, and he spent over four hours that evening providing great detail, and answering essentially all of our questions regarding energy savings, cost of the system, etc. We agreed to go forward that evening, and Charlie finalized the purchase price for the system, involving several very special discounts, the tax credit process, and the establishment of a credit account with GreenSky. At this stage we were convinced that solar panels would work well for our situation, and we looked forward to the installation. <br /><br /> Over the next few days and weeks we were contacted by several other representatives from Fidelity, namely Amber Sharp, Sandra Keller, Don Tonic and Mike Tanner. All of these Fidelity personnel were very helpful and courteous, provided more information and arranged for the installation date with the Fidelity installation contractors. The installation team was very good and completed installation of the panels onto the roof, and the inter-connect of the panels with the SCE meter system. However, upon inspection of the installation by the City Code Officer it was determined that the installation of the panels onto the roof was not in compliance with City of Rancho Palos Verdes code requirements. Unfortunately the panels had to be removed and re-installed with special flashing boot devices. We found that this requirement was especially necessary for our metal tile roof and without the required flashing boots there would likely have been roof leaks in the future. Thus, we were grateful for the City's Code inspection, and for the contractor compliance with this code requirement. The City quickly issued the required permit approval, forwarded the city permit to Southern California Edison (SCE), and SCE issued the Permit to Operate on July 28, 2012. We then turned on the system and began to generate electricity. <br /><br /> We have now received a full month billing from SCE showing our net energy metering. Our net cumulative energy consumption for the month was 97 kWh and the energy charges total $14.40 Thus, we can see an appreciable reduction in the kWh that we are billed for. It appears that SCE will perform an annual true up for our electricity costs. We would have preferred a monthly true up, but it does not appear that that option will be available to us.<br />Fidelity Home Energy<br />Page 2<br /><br /><br /> In summary, essentially 100% of everything about our solar panel system that we have experienced to date has occurred as promised or explained by Fidelity Home Energy representatives... We are extremely pleased with the outcome of our decision to proceed with acquisition of our Fidelity Home Energy solar panel system.
