We wanted consistent power to help us through outages. We looked at portable generators and decided we couldn't count on getting gasoline to run them. We looked at whole-house gas generators and decided it was noisy plus a lot of $ plus the daily cost of gas and not used most of its life. So we decided on a small solar off-grid system with battery storage that would give us sun power all the time for certain dedicated circuits and we're very happy with it.The neighborhood had an outage recently & we didn't even notice it--computer ran seamlessly--no downtime at all. The offset of reducing our power costs is an added bonus to the back up system that generators would not have provided us.
