I contacted 3 suppliers of solar equipment: two in CA and one, Ipsun, in Northern VA.
All were competitive for price for a 28 panel installation on my carport. I had built the carport myself and decided to do the solar installation also, since several local installers would not even consider a quote without knowing my last year's electric usage. I explained that it didn't matter, since I planned to buy an electric car (a Volt) and would be aiming for an all-electric house. I currently heat with a heat pump and oil furnace backup.
