Green Conception

"Update 3/22/18 Since writing the review on SolarReview, I had several good conversations with Andre, who runs the installation at Green Conception. He offered to pay for the roof repair, and compensate us for the time we were without solar. I sent him figures and he spoke with his team, and they sent me a check! He also said that Nick, the owner, sends his apologies for any unprofessional interaction.
Andre was very apologetic himself, and really went out of his way to make us feel taken care of.
So although I can’t re-write my review on this website, I am happy to add this addendum!"

Original Review: Green Conception is an LA company and we had them come out to Palm Springs rather than using a local company. Mostly because I knew the guy who was selling us the system, and they had good reviews. Now as we look back on it, of course it is better to have a local company, since dealing with city permits and systems are going to be easier for local company. We have had a few issues with the panels being turned off, and Green Conception not knowing that, even though part of the contract was for them to monitor the output from their end. The first time it was when we were away for several months in the summer, so we lost a lot of sun power during those months. We feel like we are "out of sight, out of mind" When I asked the owner, who is sometimes polite and reasonable and sometimes aggressive, to compensate us, never heard back. Overall, I would not recommend this company mostly because of him. The inconsistency of professionalism was frustrating in dealing with a system that we did not fully understand, as this was our first time having solar.
The other big thing is that when they installed the panels, one section of panel was pressed down on a copper drain pipe, which is supposed to be slightly off the roof. So that when it rains, it flows easily and doesn't trap water anywhere. During the last big rain, we had quite a leak into the house and the contractor who fixed it, found the copper pipe pressed down on the roof under a panel, which caused obstruction for water, which then went under the shingles and through the roof. Just replacing the copper pipe's position to the side of the panel was all that was needed. Why was that not done during solar panel installation?
Over all, the system works well, and that is the most important part. And the guys who install and service it have been professional and friendly.
