For $200 a month for 12 years I had an oversized solar generating system installed on my roof. A no brainer! I purposely had a oversized system installed so I could go all electric. At almost a dollar a therm to heat my house this winter it was a pleasure to tell Rochester Gas and Electric to turn off my gas meter. I heat my house with pellets and electric heat now. Next winter will be all electric heat as my new system should produce well over 25,000 watts of electricity by November 2017. My electric bill is and will always be $22.55 a month. I have a electric car and lawn mower now. I push over 23 kw back to the grid so let the sun shine.
If you will be living at your home for 15 years or so I recommend solar. Otherwise you will be doing these upgrades for someone else. Watching my bi-directional meter pulse backwards just makes me happy, happy that I'm going green.... read more
