I did a 20 year lease program with GCI solar. They did a great job analyzing my electrical needs and put in a system that saved me money and allowed me to pay the lowest rate to both PG&E and the Solar company.
It is a bit complicated as you are billed by both PG&E and the solar company that uses GCI Solar as an installer. It is very important not to buy to big of a system as you have to buy all of the electricity produced by the solar panels and although you can sell it back to PG&E if you over produce you lose money on over production (PG&E pays much less than you are paying for the solar).
A balanced system producing the correct amount of energy allows you to pay the lowest rates at the appropriate time of day lowering your overall bill although you are buying electricity from the solar company and the grid.
I have seen a substantial reduction in my bill and a guarantee of low increases in my bill for the next 20 years. The best thing is that I now produce green energy, free of carbon emissions and have reduced my global warming foot print. Also the panels will be mine in 20 years and I had no up front costs.
