Firstly, no solar contractors can pay to get listed at the top of our search results.
The order of our list of best solar installers is displayed based on a formula balancing reviews number and reviews score only from the last two years. If a company has a lot of reviews and a higher average reviews score, but is below another company in the list, it is because most of their reviews are old and the company above them has more reviews at a better average reviews score in the last two years (even if overall they have fewer reviews or a lower all time average reviews score).
We show all solar energy contractors that have received reviews of solar panel installation work they have done in Sugar Notch even if they don't have an office in Sugar Notch. There are a lot of renewable energy companies in the solar industry in the United States that service areas in which they don't have offices via contract installation teams. Some of these companies receive a lot of complaints (see the big national installers reviews like Vivint Solar, Sunrun and Solar City), but others have really good reviews and so we don't exclude them from our top solar companies lists. They often bring price competition to smaller cities where the local solar companies are so busy they need to put their prices up. It is up to you how much weight you put on a local office when choosing between solar companies.

Endless Energy installed solar at my home in 2011 and added more last fall. They were conservative in their estimates and every facet has exceeded my expectations. They are great at communicating and have the best customer and technical service I've ever experienced. They have treated me as if their only customer. Thanks Endless Energy.... read more

Ilko and Nevin were great in planning and installing the 22-panel solar electricity production system on our new barn. We have no batteries for storage but are offsetting our barn's electric usage with our solar system. But their support didn't stop there. Ilko has answered questions for us several times in the past few months to put our minds at ease. During wrap-up of installation, Ilko didn't give up on finding a wireless connection between our barn and house internet router so that he can remotely monitor the system. He made 2-3 extra trips to our house at no charge to get a solution that worked. These folks are great! I highly recommend them.... read more

Trinity solar is the worst solar company ever! I got my solar installed last year November and it was activated in December 2017. I haven’t benefited from the solar panels at all. I’ve recieved higher electric bills. My electric bills are mostly over $120 plus I have to pay a monthly fee of $80 to Sunnova. I regret getting Solar with Trinity. It’s been nothing but a headache. I’ve had three leaks in my roof. At the moment I don’t think that my panels are producing anything. I recieved my electric bill yesterday and there’s no credit towards my bill from the panels. This company is a rip off. I’m about to write Better business bureau. I wish I could have given them a zero rating. Do not waste your time with this company unless you have time and money to waste.... read more

I decided to have Vivant do our installation after meeting with 2 other companies, there would be no cost and they take the energy credit. The installation period was long and tedious. I ended up doing the leg work with the county permits as this was lingering for MONTHS! Even when approval was done it was weeks before they came to install. We also had an older roof and it was something I had specifically discussed with the rep when we decided to go with Vivant and he said they would remove and store the panels at no cost. 3 years later we needed to replace the roof, which the roofing company couldn't believe they did the install on a roof as old as ours and with is condition, Vivant wanted to charge us $100 per panel to remove and reinstall. It wasn't "written" in my contract and they would not honor what I had been told when we allowed Vivint to do our panels. When the gentlemen came to remove the panels I discussed my concern for the leaves which were accumulating under the panels holding water and freezing in winter, I asked why there was no protection from this considering I have a huge Silver Maple next to one side of my house. The installer told me they have guards which go around the panels and they are now using them. Here I am again with a team of installers here to put the new panels back on and I ask about the guards they are to install. They tell me they have them at Vivint but they are not installing them on my roof. I call Vivant to see what the deal is and of course they have them for a fee! Another misrepresentation of their company! I didn't bother "arguing" with the customer service rep, no point since "I dont have it in the contract". Buyers beware, they nickle and dime you, the installers tell you one thing then the customer service tells you another. Even when they came to remove the panels for the new roof, the customer service rep said they leave the brackets, another rep said they remove them. There is no consistency and they certainly dont keep their word! Make sure every detail is "in your contract" and try to foresee any problems that might need to be "in the contract"! I would have chosen another company and will ride out my contract and resume services elsewhere! This company has no integrity! PLEASE NOTE my rating is not based on any of the installers! They were great, courteous and professional, but I believe them to be uniformed on products and what is included in the installation due to lack of training provided my upper level management. Same for customer service reps when you call for assistance. I have been told different things by different reps and again once you talk to management, "its not in the contract"!!... read more

This was probably the worst decision I have made in my 30 yrs. of home ownership. Promises were made of savings in the amount of 4 cents per Kilowatt hour on a 13000 Kw system. That would amount to a savings of $500.00 per year. The salesman guaranteed us a Return on Investment in 3 years since it was a 1500.00 pay out for this specific system.I immediately knew things were off on our second monthly cycle. The savings just were not there as he said they would be. I started doing my own research and soon discovered several false statements had been made by the salesman about my utilities prices and fees. I discovered I was one of the first customers in the PPL utility area and Sunrun was not familiar with their procedures.I made the Salesman aware of the issues and all he could say was, "well, at least you are making clean energy in a coal state. I told him that was a totally unacceptable response and he said, "some states don't charge all those fees and to wait until the system has a year to run its course."I called Customer Service to see what I could do about the situation and was given the same answer; I could do nothing until a year was up and run a Savings analysis to see where I stood. Fast forward 1 year and I had an analysis completed. The results were as I expected. The analysis showed a savings of $60.00. That did not even cover that year's portion of the initial payment so I was actually out $15.00. I also had losses associated with my Utilities buy back program which I was told would happen at the end of my year. Well it didn't. PPL bought my excess energy at the time of the year I am storing the most energy (end of May). Sun is high that time of year and you are not using your heat or air conditioner so you are banking the most. When the utility bought it back, they only paid me 8 cents per Kw even though I had to pay Sunrun10 cents for it. Then I had to re-buy the power in Nov. and Dec. when my system was not producing well. I had to buy it back at 8 cents plus 4 cent transmission fee. That was another loss. Sunrun stated they would not consider my initial payments in their analysis and stated they were not responsible for every customers unique situations or buy back procedures associated with specific utilities even though their own salesman told me how the system /reimbursement with my utility would work. They stated they were sure the mistakes made by the salesman were honest mistakes if he actually made them and stated they were sure he had done nothing malicious. I asked what good that does me and they just continued to state I was showing savings and nothing was going to change. All in all I was expecting a 10,000 savings over 20 years and now I stare at a potential $1500.00 loss. Even more upsetting is when we go to sell the house we will have to disclose all of this to any potential buyers. There system runs/works just as described and the installers were awesome but they were subcontractors and were not direct employees of the company... read more
