Firstly, no solar contractors can pay to get listed at the top of our search results.
The order of our list of best solar installers is displayed based on a formula balancing reviews number and reviews score only from the last two years. If a company has a lot of reviews and a higher average reviews score, but is below another company in the list, it is because most of their reviews are old and the company above them has more reviews at a better average reviews score in the last two years (even if overall they have fewer reviews or a lower all time average reviews score).
We show all solar energy contractors that have received reviews of solar panel installation work they have done in Newtown even if they don't have an office in Newtown. There are a lot of renewable energy companies in the solar industry in the United States that service areas in which they don't have offices via contract installation teams. Some of these companies receive a lot of complaints (see the big national installers reviews like Vivint Solar, Sunrun and Solar City), but others have really good reviews and so we don't exclude them from our top solar companies lists. They often bring price competition to smaller cities where the local solar companies are so busy they need to put their prices up. It is up to you how much weight you put on a local office when choosing between solar companies.

This was a great company to work with. Very effeciant from start to end. Very clean and everyone from the salesmen to the girls in the office, and the men that installed the job were very nice and accommodating. I will recommend this company to anyone that is looking to have solar installed

The process to get the job started was slow which impacted the overall rating. I think they were overwhelmed with the popularity of the "Energize" program in Connecticut at the time. I pushed them to fit the max number of panels on the roof and go with higher end inverters during the design process; so I would have capacity for a geothermal heating/cooling system. Their designer knows his stuff. It's silly to be impatient though, because I haven't had solar my entire life... so what's a few months more? Once they got started it went pretty well and they always communicated before showing up to do work. They did a great job with the panel installation. The heart of the system is really the inverters and the various electrical... which far exceeds expectation.... read more
From my initial consultation discussions with Mike, to Daniel managing the project (extremely good communication) to Donna - the entire team was a joy to work with and very professional. The installation was on schedule and very seamless. The system looks sharp and is performing great. I would recommend.... read more

Salesmen to workers to install all excellent. Panels installed mid November. We still have a 200.00 UI bill. The sales rep told us that it takes time for the panels to charge. I giggled this and found nothing. Nothing says it in any paper work. We were told someone would check the system within 2wks. Not happy. I want credit, or they can remove the panels give me a new roof.... read more

A few things I really appreciated about the C-Tec team:1) The Wetlands Commission in my town threw us a real curve ball and asked us to do a "study" that costs $2000+. Edwin from C-Tec met with them several times and personally attended their monthly meeting to explain our plans to them in detail and give them the confidence that a study wasn't necessary. I know most people wouldn't do that -- they would have told me I have to pay another $2k and called it a day.2) Landscapers we hired clipped the ethernet line running from the panels to the house. A C-Tec Electrician came within a day and spliced the wire back together without hesitation or asking for money. I know many companies would nickle and dime on those little things that were clearly not their fault.3) I checked in with Nick (our Site Manager) several times a day to stay up to date on what was happening. He always took the time to walk me through and physically show me what was being done, what challenges he was running into, and what was projected to be done by the end of the day as well as any impact to our schedule. We did have a few delays in the project that pushed our target date back about a week or so, but I knew in advance that might happen and never felt in the dark on anything. I never had any doubts the team was putting in 100%.I truly felt C-Tec was there as a partner, not a vendor. They were always looking out for my best interest and making sure I had a great experience. When I look at getting more panels in the future, I already know where to go.... read more
I had a great experience with Crius. They knocked on my door and told me they we're selling solar and I really didn't want to hear anything about it but the guy was really nice. Oliver was my sales rep and he explained how solar works and how I might be able to save money with it.I signed up with them about 5 weeks ago and just had solar installed this week. I'm very happy with how professional everyone has been that I've talked with and how they made sure I understood what was going on through the whole process.I've already talked to my brother about getting solar installed too.... read more

We were approved for solar and got to the point where the project person came out to check our roof and electric panels. Good to go. Next I get a call that oh, the project team decided that we still wouldn't have enough sun to generate due to a tree that I was told twice that it wasn't a problem. They even brought two different designs to our attention. I told my rep to destroy the referral list and that we are pissed they have our personal information from our pay stubs. They are a bunch of morons. Our time was also wasted for 4 hours for the actual sales pitch and paperwork and then another morning for the roof and electrical panel inspection. We will still look for other solar energy companies.... read more

I did a ton of research on solar and solar installers and even entered into a conversation with a different company. I am a very demanding customer and I have to say that everyone I have dealt with at this company are A+. They are honest, polite, knowledgeable, passionate about their work and their company and responsive months after the deal is done. Truly amazing... read more

RGS assured me that their Year 1 production estimate was conservative (note, the contract provides no recourse for you, so you are relying on their word). During the first year, my system produced approximately 77% of their "conservative" estimate, which will extend my payback period substantially.... read more

Customers often report bad more than good, because our environment has developed to that of a quick to fuss because something may be wrong or merely appear to be wrong, and then there's little time to compliment when a true compliment is due. As for the Buyer Beware comment: my contract clearly reflected that I had a separate warranty for all of the solar equipment; reading is fundamental. I assessed 9 solar companies in Austin over 2 months and several of them were great companies. They each had good and bad, but held solid reviews. On top of the company research, I researched panel and inverter quality, warranties, and pros and cons of eachto understand the investment I was about to make. I met with 4 of the 9 companies and opted for Momentum Solar. The sales rep Jake Stinson was extremely professional, but unfortunately, I already knew most of what he had to sell due to my research. However, Jake was able to get me the best price over the other 3 companies, so naturally I signed. Upon time for installation, Momentum Solar actually proved that 2 of the other 3 companies provided improper information regarding panel placement. Then by coincidence, the AC in my new home stopped working on the day I powered up my panels. The AC company claimed I had a power surge. Believing the surge was from my panels, I called Momentum and they sent out several electricians at a time convenient to me. Their master electrician, Brian Stilley, walked me through the electrical safety measures of my solar system and then provided me actual video footage of my AC fan motor surging power on start up. Who does that? Momentum Solar does that! With the video footage, I have now received a refund of my initial AC service call, and the AC company is replacing my faulty AC fan motor. And I received a solar system that was $7,000 cheaper than one of their competitors, with another $750 coming my way for a neighbor referral.... read more
