Firstly, no solar contractors can pay to get listed at the top of our search results.
The order of our list of best solar installers is displayed based on a formula balancing reviews number and reviews score only from the last two years. If a company has a lot of reviews and a higher average reviews score, but is below another company in the list, it is because most of their reviews are old and the company above them has more reviews at a better average reviews score in the last two years (even if overall they have fewer reviews or a lower all time average reviews score).
We show all solar energy contractors that have received reviews of solar panel installation work they have done in Goleta even if they don't have an office in Goleta. There are a lot of renewable energy companies in the solar industry in the United States that service areas in which they don't have offices via contract installation teams. Some of these companies receive a lot of complaints (see the big national installers reviews like Vivint Solar, Sunrun and Solar City), but others have really good reviews and so we don't exclude them from our top solar companies lists. They often bring price competition to smaller cities where the local solar companies are so busy they need to put their prices up. It is up to you how much weight you put on a local office when choosing between solar companies.

We're up! Thanks to the entire California Solar Electric team. Start with Roger: clear presentation of the proposal, responsive to our questions and phone calls, and just a nice guy. The roof installers: Aaron and Gavin, and the electricians: Alex and Jake gave us a excellent neat appearing and serviceable system. Cody and Josh also did their important tasks. My wife and I feel like we have friends along with our new solar system. Thanks to you all and hope I didn't miss anyone because you all were great.... read more

Company was very easy to work with and professional from the bid process through install. Neighbor and I both went with them and have no regrets from the price to service. The wife and I both like their business/sales style. Give them a shot!

Crown solar is outstanding, better than the maximum stars allowed. When I first decided to go solar, I discovered this is not a mature industry - in fact it's a jungle that reminded me of the aluminum siding salesman of several years ago. Within almost moments of a first call (to Tesla which I mistakenly thought would be the most mature company) my phone began ringing and didn't stop; these companies obviously share prospects and I received at least 50 calls. Most had already Googled my house, taken the screenshot of my roof, and threw quotes at me even though some were on the other side of the continent. Thoroughly confused, but determined, I decided to do due diligence and I accepted about 30 quotes. Only two actually offered to come and visit the location, and only one showed up: Omar, the owner who actually brought a licensed electrician and project engineer along to ensure that the quote would be accurate and that there would be no hidden costs - it was Crown Solar Electric which is located here in Southern California. They were meticulous, inspecting every aspect of my electric facilities including my electric panels, grid feed, and meter. Notwithstanding this, I was at first unsure of them because the quote was almost half of the big companies (after tax credits which they computed correctly) and I wondered where they were cutting costs. So I compared the proposed equipment (the identical panels to those offered by the expensive quotes of the big companies) the conversion process (the same micro-generators, one per panel that the bigger companies offered) the roof guarantee (the industry standard twenty-five years) and the relationship to the LA DWP (which was superior to everyone else's). Still expecting something might well go wrong, I closed my eyes and leapt into the water anyway. They made me feel like a genius. They arrived on the day appointed, finished all the work in one day, with the same project manager (Jeremy) who had originally inspected the house, and assured me the system would be large enough, which was important to me since this is a big 6000 square-foot home. The day after they completed their work I had my customary roofer come and inspect what they had done to my flat roof. As one might expect, he had some quibbles, but notwithstanding the guarantee, Jeremy returned within 48 hours and corrected anything the roofer had noted even though they assured me they were not significant. This alone would've been enough to say that they lived up to their word completely, efficiently, and with courtesy and extreme care. But it got better: as so often happens, the LADWP were slow in changing my meter and attending to their side of the installation. Melissa and Audra handled them completely and at no time did I ever have to contact LADWP or become involved in their bureaucracy. In fact, Crown Solar even offered to cover the cost of my electric bill during a delay occasioned not by their work but LA DWP scheduling. As soon as the system was up and connected to the grid, CS took care of connecting me to a monitoring service which provides me daily reports on the condition of my panels and the amount of power they produce. In this day and age when old-fashioned service is so hard to come by, and too many suppliers are happy to collect the last check and consider their commitment done, Crown Solar is a reminder of how customer service and job commitment should be. I had no prior knowledge of the company and no one recommended them to me - I hired them strictly on the basis of my own due diligence and comparing some 30-odd quotes. This is an outstanding company and I could not be more delighted with their commitment and effort. I give them six stars out of five. If anyone reading this has any doubts that this is a totally unsolicited reference, I have given Crown Solar permission to put them in contact with me directly.if you're thinking about solar, be very careful of this wild West industry. But Crown and its people are truly outstanding.... read more

Very happy customer. very professional installers and we got everything that was promised to us. Just got my 6.4kw system turned on and with their financing I will only pay $130 a month instead $250 to PG&E. John helped us from the start to finish, needless to say, We are very happy with the decision to go with John and Nexus Solar. Will DEFINITELY recommend them for everyone out there who want solar!... read more
Even though I'm not a tree hugger, the math has really started to work in favor of rooftop solar and electric vehicles, so I made the jump into both before the end of the tax year. I got proposals from four local solar installers for our house. Most of them were some sales dog-and-pony shows with pretty pictures showing you that installing your system will take 1.2 cars off the road for 25 years, but glossing over the hard facts you really should know before plunking down cash on PV install.I'm an engineer and like to nerd out on price per kilowatt installed, kWh per year, breakeven time, and return on investment, among other things. I had a TON of questions and back and forth with every company for close to a month. I also did a lot of research on forums such as Solar Panel Talk.I went with Brighten Solar for these reason:1) Price. Brighten had the best proposal in dollars per kilowatt. I normally wouldn't just go with the lowest bid without everything else looking good, which is why the points below are important too.2) Communication. Jeremy was very easy to get hold of over phone, text or email. He also answered all of my questions fully and without bother. Don't let his French accent throw you off at first!3) Knowledge. Since Jeremy is an engineer he was able to answer in technical terms instead of sales talk. He warned against a few things other installers wanted to do, like installing in a location that would have shadows during part of the year. He also was one of the only installers to find a way to use our existing 100A panel without a costly upgrade to a new panel. 4) Materials. Brighten proposed top of the line LG panels with Enphase microinverters, whereas other proposals were going with cheaper panels and inverters.5) Craftsmanship. I spoke to three of the referrals Brighten listed, and looked at some photos and the installs were fairly clean. I made it known I wanted a clean install because I've seen some fugly installs. Sure enough it was a clean install with very little conduit. We had our system permitted, installed, signed off by SCE, and fully producing power in less than 4 weeks. I was pretty happy about that and would fully recommend Brighten to anyone considering rooftop solar.... read more
I had a great experience with my chosen solar company, Treepublic. I had my system installed a couple of months ago and I thought it was great idea in saving time using a satellite image for an initial appraisal. But the real show starter for me was when the salesperson got up on the roof to check its physical ability to support the solar install. Challenge! Try finding a solar salesperson who will actually get up on the roof? What really impressed me was the complete openness of the salesperson who told me upfront there would be a period of time before any real progress since the structural and engineering drawings took time to prepare. Treepublic’s rep also offered me the opportunity to come and see other installs underway by Treepublic so I could see the process, at different stages, of installing solar on a home’s roof.I live in a gated community with a Home Owners Management company. As is often the case there were the usual frustrations caused by delays and paperwork requirements. These delays never came from the solar company, Treepublic. With the patience of Job, Treepublic took each and every one of the HOA's “requirements” and tailored a solution custom to our home. The only visible piece of electrical conduit was color coded at the top where it passed through the white eves of the house roof. Indeed, nothing but that one skinny, color coded, electrical conduit, part way down an outside wall, reveals the fact that solar had been installed. The electrical components also had to be placed completely out of site, inside the garage. Even then, the internal electrical conduit was color matched to the wall color inside the garage.Hey it's your roof, pick who you like to install your solar, but since you have to listen to the solar pitch anyway, at least talk with Treepublc. These guys really knows their stuff.... read more

I can't say enough about Westhaven solar! From my sales person to the office staff and install team, they were all so great. One of my neighbors referred me to them, and I'm so happy with my new solar system. My system was installed in about a month and my PG&E bills are now only a few dollars. Definitely one of the best decisions I've made.... read more
