Firstly, no solar contractors can pay to get listed at the top of our search results.
The order of our list of best solar installers is displayed based on a formula balancing reviews number and reviews score only from the last two years. If a company has a lot of reviews and a higher average reviews score, but is below another company in the list, it is because most of their reviews are old and the company above them has more reviews at a better average reviews score in the last two years (even if overall they have fewer reviews or a lower all time average reviews score).
We show all solar energy contractors that have received reviews of solar panel installation work they have done in Boulevard even if they don't have an office in Boulevard. There are a lot of renewable energy companies in the solar industry in the United States that service areas in which they don't have offices via contract installation teams. Some of these companies receive a lot of complaints (see the big national installers reviews like Vivint Solar, Sunrun and Solar City), but others have really good reviews and so we don't exclude them from our top solar companies lists. They often bring price competition to smaller cities where the local solar companies are so busy they need to put their prices up. It is up to you how much weight you put on a local office when choosing between solar companies.

I recently had a 10.8kW solar panel installed on my house by NRG Clean Power. While everyone at the company, from sales to installation and post-installation walk-through was great, the 'ace' of the team clearly has been Tiffany Swisa. She not only is warm and friendly, making the necessary communication enjoyable and stress-free, but she has a fantastic grasp of the entire series of steps involved. She, therefore, is able to stay on top of all the steps and coordinate the different activities beginning with the initial site visit, to the engineer's projections, the approvals required, the installer's schedules, the city inspection and the final walk-through. If not for Tiffany, all of this might seem daunting to anyone who has never done it before, but she makes it all occur effortlessly and on time. Even more impressive, she somehow seems to make herself available if any uncertainties occur and is always ready and able to answer any questions that might arise. In this day and age of automation and 'impersonal customer service', having Tiffany available to answer questions, coordinate activities and assure things continue to run smoothly and on-schedule proved to be an unexpected and welcomed advantage to selecting NRG to install our panels. I recommend NRG, and Tiffany, with the greatest enthusiasm and confidence possible.... read more

THEY OFFERED ME $1,000 AS HUSH-MONEY:They didn't want me to tell of my awful experience and the only way they would partially make it right (give me $1,000 back) was if I signed a hush agreement. The debased ethics of the owners was on full display - truly despicable. For everything I went though, they offered me a 3% discount - they do not deserve a 97% for the job they did - they were awful to work with. I refused the $1,000, because I want everyone to know who these guys really are. This review only scratches the surface and emphasizes the worst parts.DO NOT trust Semper Solaris. Notice how many of the reviews prove that Semper doesn't make things right when they mess up. I am also a local business owner and if me or my company acted like these guys I'd deserve to go out of business. Integrity is best displayed when things go wrong. THE OWNERS OF SEMPER SOLARIS LACK INTEGRITY. This company cares more about money than they do about people. I contracted with Semper Solaris to put 20 panels on my roof. Here are some of the ways that they failed.MY PROJECT WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE 3 MONTHS, BUT TOOK 7 MONTHS:The contract we signed on 6/4/18 said the project would take between 10-12 weeks (less than 3 months) and they just finished on 1/7/19. It is true that there can be delays outside of the control of solar companies, but my project was full of Semper not showing up when they told me they would and of them taking weeks to do the next part of project after all the permits and work orders were approved. This cost us months of additional power, too, because each month they caused delays I didn't get any relief from the solar panels with my power bills. They wouldn't make it right.THEY LEFT MY PROPERTY AND MY NEIGHBOR'S PROPERTY COVERED IN MUD:On a Friday their trenching crew left mud all over my retaining wall, sidewalk, street and my neighbor's driveway (and dirt covered their vehicles, meters and trash barrels). I felt terrible for the mess and spent about an hour cleaning up after them. I brought this to their attention and they did nothing about it, except tell me that they "chewed out those employees." They failed to see how it affects me and only think that I want to get employees in trouble. My neighbor is a 94 year old WWII vet and he made a point to share with me how embarrassed he was of the work ethic of the crew. The owners, Shawn and John, have made millions by marketing to the appeal of supporting veterans and in this case they were a complete embarrassment to the honor of our veterans. Part of the reason I chose to work with them was because of this. The owners' unwillingness to take ownership of their employees' failures is an even greater disgrace to the men and women who have served this country with such honor. Additionally, they used my hose without permission for their trenching and ruined it - this cost me $50 to replace and they did not cover the cost.THEY ENTERED MY HOUSE WITHOUT PERMISSION:One of their employees was supposed to come to my house for an inspection and came 6 days after he was supposed to. I was at work and he called me to say he needed to do an external inspection of the work performed and it would take 5 minutes. My wife was home with the our 4 kids and putting our 1 year old daughter down for a nap. One of their employees talked to my 7 year old through the window and accepted his help to come into my house to get in the attic. THEY NEVER TOLD MY WIFE THEY WERE THERE OR COMING IN. The employee fell through our dining room ceiling and it terrified my wife. She thought someone had broken into the house. The employee is lucky he wasn't shot and my family is fortunate nothing worse happened (beyond being terrified). When I confronted the company about how absolutely unacceptable this is, they said sorry, but they were not willing to admit that it was any "real damage" to us. The anxiety this caused is real and it infuriated me that they didn't think it was a bigger deal.THEY PLACED AN UNLAWFUL LIEN ON MY HOUSE:This isn't even the worst ethical failure, but it is substantial. As we were nearing the end of the project we were having conversations about the financial impact of their failures, but they were not willing to make it right. The owners were not willing to meet with me to discuss it any further. The manager told me that the only way we could continue the conversation was if I had my lawyer contact them. I did that and they placed a lien on my house. A lien can only be filed when a contractor completes the job AND if the client refuses to pay for finished work. THEY HAD NEITHER FINISHED THE WORK NOR HAD I REFUSED TO PAY (they didn't even provide a final invoice). They placed a lien on my house and threatened to file for foreclosure. This is so unethical and proves that they are willing to lie in order to push people around. This wouldn't have gone anywhere, because we paid in full, but they were just being bullies.... read more

Throughout the entire process of discussing the solar and then buying the solar from solar tech inc Gino made it very easy. He explained the quality of the panels, discussed how many we needed based on our SDGE bill, and then was up front with the cost. He put NO PRESSURE on us, and just left the decision to us on what we wanted to do. I even recommended him to a friend who also bought the solar from solar tech inc. I would recommend them to anybody looking to buy solar for their home.... read more

Jesse did a superb job all around. From planning to execution, and all the little details. No ugly conduit like the Big Solar guys who ham & egg it. My neighbors paid twice as much for half the size. Its a no brainer to stay with a local dude whos going to be around for questions or maybe upgrade and has a vested interest on the workmanship. I will be recommending KE to my other frugal cohorts who hate to spend retail and now they can spend less for better. LG panels with warranty, and I can see my production live on my smartphone. All this with no leaks!... read more

We have had our solar system, which was installed by EESI, for over two years now. Everything has been positive. Installation was quick and smooth. The price was competitive. There have been no problems since. I really like that the company keeps an eye on what is happening and if it is something on our end (like a disgruntled tenant who turned it off) or something technical, they are aware of it and it gets addressed without a problem. And then the SDG+E bill arrives and it says we owe nothing. That is quite delightful! EESI has treated us well!... read more

Met with Dave Gersz at my home to learn about SunPower Panels. no pressure, just facts and how it would all progress should i move forward with Stellar Solar. of course after he left, i went down my own rabbit hole of internet research which only confirmed what he told me earlier in the day. Dave was there every step of the way, (before and after signing the contract) checking in and answering any questions i had. the install team: everyone was professional and friendly. it was obvious that aesthetics and the quality of the install were important to them...i particularly appreciated having the crew respect my home and have a sense of responsibility to get it right. we've been nonstop at this house since we moved in so i've been dealing with plenty of contractors, tradesmen etc, and these guys have been top notch...and quite frankly a breath of fresh air. once the panels were up, they scheduled the inspection and even though they told me it could be up to a week for SDGE to give us our Permission to Operate green light, i got mine the day after the inspection. everything was handled by them and i just had to field emails or phone calls to set up times i would be home, which was simple because i work from home. the onsite tech walked me through how to login/use the monitoring app and how to flip the breakers on once we received PTO. seamless, professional and simple. there's a lot of solar installers out there, which, if you're reading this review, you know. Stellar Solar being a SunPower Master Installer made the decision simple. i suppose it's a personal decision whether you want SunPower or Panasonic or LG or whatever panels. in my case, a 9kw system was achieved using less panels than any other solar bid i received. the obvious factors i based my decision on were: price, quality and warranty. efficiency was sort of important to me, but not a limiting factor. a 9kw system will produce the target numbers regardless if it's 26 panels or 30 that gets you there. quality and especially their warranty, easily brought SunPower to the top...which unfortunately also puts their price point into the 'premium' category. if you've come this far, my final suggestions is to really look into the specifics of the warranties on your bids: who will be answering the phone on the other end, and who will be responsible for fixing any issues you have with your system.... read more

I got a recommendation from a friend to use CM Solar and I was sceptical because most of the other vendors gave me the impression that this area is wild and that you can't trust anyone. From the very first moment that we start to discuss the opportunity, it was very clear that these guys are different. They are professional, fairs in terms of business and above all, they are reliable. There are many areas that the vendors can cut corners, save money and sometimes even reduce the cost BUT since the solar system is something that should work for years, cutting corners is not the right way to go.The offer that I got from CM Solar was competitive but my impression is that they gave me the right solution, on a very aggressive schedule and without compromising on the quality.... read more

I had the pleasure of having my solar done with Stefan's team. They gave me the breakdown on how long it will take to do the install of the solar panes and the permits.. There are 3 permits or processes down. One permit is for the solar through my city. The second one is for solar the battery added to the solar that also needs its own permit and inspection. The third is to get the SDG&E to approve the solar going into the grid. Stefan has been great in explaining the process and how the solar can work. There is an app for your computer or phone to see how much electricity you are using with your solar, how much you are putting into the grid and much much more to see how much your savings you are getting with solar.I had 19 solar panels installed plus a battery for off the grid emergencies. People do not understand if the grid is off and you do not have a battery backup, your electricity is down too. The backup battery will activate on its own when it does not see the grid available.I highly recommend this team for your solar. Thank you for your expertise and your team for explaining everything I needed to know.... read more
