The industry suffers from the local utility rebate program. LIPA NY has been dragging their paperwork (all done correctly by us and the contractor) for 7 months and we are still are awaiting our rebate. This has no bearing on the installer/installation but gives a terrible "aftertaste" to the entire process and is probably the reason the installer was not interested in a reassignment of the rebate as it will take in excess of 6 months to get the LIPA NY rebate. We hope to get the rebate next month a whole 7.5 months after our application was filled out correctly and 6 months after a "problem-free" installation.<br />Be aware that the LIPA NY rebate program takes at least 6 months despite accurate paper-work completion. I would think twice about any future rebate program (with LIPA or NY State) especially if you may need the money during the at least 6 month "paper processing" time frame. I would love to hear why it takes 4-6 weeks for the accounting department in Syracuse, NY to "cut a check" ? Also do not expect anyone in any athority or management capacity to ever return a call regarding your concerns.
