Great Solar Consultation and Installation

I'm a Type-A control freak home-improvement do-it-myselfer and professional engineer so I get nervous when people touch my stuff. Hiring someone to drill holes in my roof, attach giant solar panels, and run conduit down the side of my house was therefore a daunting proposition.

The SolarStates consultation and installation teams had their hands full with me and they performed wonderfully. Going solar isn't just about hardware, it's also about investing in a burgeoning industry that could potentially reverse the damaging effects of our dependence on fossil fuels. This investment will also make me money, which is a good thing. The SolarStates folks walked me through all of this. They put up with my tons of questions and also provided references with whom I could speak and compare notes.

One aspect of the decision making process is how much electric your panels will produce. This number is important in order to know when you will have 'paid off' your panels. SolarStates worked harder than other places, and used more sophisticated processes, to come up with this number. And this entire process was openly shared with me - no secrets.

The installation itself looks top notch. I walked all around my roof and inspected all electrical work and it's all 'tight'. I couldn't find a single place where their lag bolts missed their mark (in other words, every lag bolt that penetrated the roof was set properly into a rafter).

The best part of this whole process is walking into the house on even a moderately sunny day and declaring to the whole family that everything we're doing is running on solar!
