Review for SunPower

Good, not great

We have a large SunPower array -- 40+ panels. Signature Black 335s. What we like: the aesthetics, high efficiency, and productivity. The panels have performed as expected and after a year of service there is little sign of degradation.

What we really don't like: we opted for SunPower largely for the aesthetics of the black-on-black panels. Several of the panels in our array have a different sheen than the other panels. It isn't apparent in full sun, but when the light is diffuse -- cloudy days, for instance -- those panels looks noticeably different than the other panels.

SunPower replaced some of the panels to fix this problem under warranty - kudos to them for trying. But even some of the replacement panels have the same problem.

So if you are buying SunPower with the expectation of having a beautiful array (which we were, since they right on the front of our house and easy to see), beware that you may not get exactly what you hope for. While the panels look great in full sun, the manufacturing defects become apparent in ambient light.
