The pits

I felt it was a high pressure sale. We had to make our decision two weeks before the holidays in order to get the tax breaks before they expired at the end of the year. We were talked to as if we were uneducated and interrupting their day when we asked questions about the installation process. We never had one person to deal with. The people we did deal with did not talk to each other. We requested no smoking on our property up front. Everyone that came tried to light up right in front of us. We gave a credit card deposit that was kept on file and then we received a late-night email notifying us that the first progress payment of $1850 was going to be applied to the credit card the next day - without our permission. I felt the whole business was out of touch with real people - people who work for a living and have to earn their paycheck to have a project like this done on their home. I would never refer this company. They took advantage of our eagerness to get out from under our energy company and did not fully explain that there was no getting out from under the energy company. We are not saving money. We just have another monthly payment for the next 15 years. Who knows if what they told us about the tax credits is even true since there is a disclaimer at every advertisement to check with our local tax adviser. When I did in fact try to have an attorney and accountant look into the contract, we were told we were holding up a strict timeline and needed to sign the contract as soon as possible. Therefore, we faced further costs in delaying the installation. Needless to say, we were behind schedule on the installation, but in the end it was because of Sungevity not getting the necessary paperwork to our energy company and the northeastern winter weather. Horrible experience!
