We had considered and investigated installation of solar panels for our home for a few years until finally the cost and incentives available reached a point where we could reach ROI in less than 5yrs. I researched options and companies exhaustively and came across HighLight Solar. I met the owner "Dean" directly and was truly impressed with his demeanor and approach to the pre sales process. At every stage it was clear, given previous research, that options he suggested and responses to many informed questions asked, that he is honest, sincerely cares about his customers and takes pride in the service he provides them. I rarely write reviews, but given my experience with the pre sales, installation and post sale support provided by Dean and his company, I felt compelled to do so. This is not a business that takes your money and runs, they strive to keep you happy. <br /><br />In addition to the experience, Dean provided the best pricing and earliest window for installation. I had interviewed and negotiated with 7 companies in parallel and am a pretty tough negotiator and demanding customer. In the end, I had only one company willing to undercut Highlight Solar to get the business but I had no where near the confidence with them and their install date was too late to allow for me to take the tax break late last year. In any case, in hindsight, I would have willing pay more to Highlight Solar given my experience. <br /><br />I had a 8.25 kW DC installed using 30 SolarWorld 275 Monocrytalline panels with Enphase Micro inverters along with a 220v car charger for our home in Morgan Hill. As noted in reviews, the Enphase Envoy system for monitoring can be a bit tricky for some installations as it needs to be on a non GFC outlet with minimal interference to reliably report usuage. Highlight Solar has been great in getting this resolved. It is a pretty cool monitoring tool once it's up and running. Based on our use, the system will have paid for itself only 4.5 yrs from install. If you are on the fence on pulling the trigger on solar, just do it. It is a very safe/smart investment that in addition to the ROI the panels provide in generating free power, it can immediately add value to your home more than the cost of its installation. <br /><br />The primary installation engineer, Doug was also great, very patient in explaining the installation and working with specific cosmetic suggestions I had for my installation. They were very neat and respectful of our home through the the installation. I have dealt with many contractors and companies for home improvement over the years and have found in addition to price, trust is often more important. With Highlight Solar, you can have both. If you are looking for the right company for seamless installation, price your options but I highly recommend selecting Highlight in the end.
