Beware!!!! They don't know how to deal with east coast weather!!

I too asked about snow before signing the contract and they said don't worry we'll take care of it. They lied. If you go to the website all they talk about is the issue of energy production during snow. Energy production isn't the worry for most of us with solar paneling on the east coast right now – it's our roofs collapsing. There is about 4 feet of snow on top of 2 inches of ice on our panels. Unfortunately Sungevity doesn't have snow removal service and if you damage the panels while trying to remove the snow yourself, you're liable. Now of course this has been an unusual winter and the snow has had no opportunity to melt and slide off as it would say with 1 storm of 6-8 inches. I've spoken to a couple customer service people at sungevity about it – and apparently I am one of many east coasters with this problem. Everyone I've spoken to have been nice but it made me feel very isolated from the California company – 1 rep (very nice mind you) today told me – oh don't worry if your roof collapses your house insurance will cover the roof and sungevity will cover the panels….. ok so sungevity won't do anything and I can't do anything without risking liability and they want us to just sit and HOPE the roof doesn't collapse…on our home….that we love…. thanks . I've never felt so far away from California; it seems they just don't get the seriousness of the snow situation on the east coast and don't plan on trying to…. very disappointing…. I had loved sungevity before this but now I feel kind of duped....
