Would highly recommend this contractor

We installed a 22.5 kw solar PV system for our home. This system will cover 98% of our heating, hot water and appliance use.

Dave Austin designed the system using an electric boiler to run our hot water/radiator heat. We have an old house and originally were looking into geothermal, which he also does. For us, we didn't want to change out our radiators, so an electric boiler, backed up by a 22.5 kw solar array made sense. We wanted to get away from fossil fuels and fuel oil for winter heating was our largest expense. Dave designed the system and his crew did all the plumbing and electrical work that was necessary. They were great people. We felt very comfortable leaving the house in their hands. They were highly skilled, knowledgable, trustworthy and friendly. I can't say enough about them. We would do it again.

This was a huge investment for us to consider. The system price was $77,000, before the NYSERDA incentive of $22,500. That left an upfront cost of $55,000 , with a Federal Tax Credit of $16,740 and a NY Solar Tax Credit of $5,000, bringing the final cost of our project to $34,060. When we considered that it would cost us $35,000+ to heat and provide hot water to our house with fossil fuels in the next 8 years and we could pay for this system and be independent of fossil fuels from day one, we decided we would invest in renewable energy.
