LG Solar

We chose the LG panels both for their high output and excellent appearance. Being almost all black, they blend in better with the roof, and avoid an electrical/industrial appearance. Their slightly higher output may not quite pay for their extra cost; but when added attractiveness is added to the equation, they are worth it. Also, even a small amount of additional power generation pays off in the long run.

Celestial Solar Innovations

Having read excellent reviews of Celestial Solar Innovations, we contacted them regarding the possibilities for solar for our home. They gave us a clear and honest assessment of what we could expect to save over the life of the investment, maintenance considerations, suitability of our roof to make for an efficient system, and style of panels and other esthetic considerations. We liked the fact that they are a small local Maryland company, and that the president would be with us every step of the way. The crew was expert and large enough to complete the construction in three days. Inspection was on the fourth day, and then we had to wait only another week for the electric utility to come out and make the interconnection (the response time of the utility is not under the solar company's control, of course; but it helps that they were on top of things and made the call immediately when the inspection was complete. The longest wait time is for the initial permit from the electrical utility--in our case it took a little less than 4 weeks, but Celestial Solar made the application quickly and was ready to start the installation within a few days of receiving the go-ahead.)

We are pleased with the "look" of the system--modern but not too industrial. Almost nothing except the panels is visible on the roof; most of the on-roof electrical supporting equipment is hidden under the panels, and the one small run of exposed conduit (most of it goes through the attic) is neatly placed and painted to blend in with the roof and siding. Most importantly, our system is projected to save us almost 60% on our electric bill over the course of each year, based upon average weather in our area; and it has been particularly satisfying to go out and see the electric meter running backwards on a sunny day--on cloudless days the electric utility pays US!

Thank you Don, it was an absolute pleasure working with you and Ron! This was one of my favorite systems; I really love the appearance and performance of the LG all-black panels. Enjoy spinning that meter backwards and thanks again for your business!
