American Solar Direct (out of business)

GOOD: We lucked out with our salesman. He was on top of things from the start and even after system install has been our go-to man for any questions/inquiries that have come up. Installation was just short of perfect. It required more legwork on my part, holding them accountable to put the finishing touches on some items which they had promised, but in the end, it was completed satisfactorily and in a reasonable timeframe. System seems to be performing about at contracted rate so far, but only been 3 months.
BAD: I gave them every chance to right this wrong before this review. They were all too on top of the dates by which payments were expected of me (bought the system outright). I complied and was prompt paying in full the respective amounts. However, the respect is not reciprocated as they violated their own terms in not providing the cash back offer (a mere $500) within the 60-day window. Additionally, I referred family 'n friends who have now installed systems which should now mean additional cash referrals headed my way. Now the story is not 60 days from system interconnection, but 60 days from when it registered in their database (using their logging capability w/the modem). Once contacted, they said they will "rush the check" and have it mailed within 2 weeks. Clearly they have their own company definition of "rushed." Their customer care number is only a voicemail machine that doesn't seem to be addressed in a timely manner. Personally I was curious, from an outright buyer perspective, as to customer support and satisfaction after installation seeing as how they got every penny from me already. I'd asked them if they were striving to meet my expectations or exceed my expectations. My sentiment is that they'll struggle to come right in at barely meeting. No more. Aside from our salesman being tops, and the friendly foremen and workers at installation, the rest (mainly all folks on the phone) have been difficult. If you choose ASD, expect to hold them accountable and stay on top of things. This will require more effort on YOUR part. Do your homework!

Good
Possibly, but full disclosure would entail several caveats on the negative things to expect.
