As of Apr 2024, the average cost of solar panels in Calypso is $2.26 per watt making a typical 6000 watt (6 kW) solar system $9,497 after claiming the 30% federal solar tax credit now available.
This is lower than the average price of residential solar power systems across the United States which is currently $3.00 per watt.
The size of a solar panel system also plays a role in how much the installation will cost.
Larger solar installations will typically have a lower cost per watt, because the panels can be purchased at a ‘bulk price’. However, these larger solar systems will still have a higher total cost, because they are made up of more individual panels.

Yes Solar Solutions helped me through the whole process and were very dependable, including answering all my questions fully. I felt like I was talking to people who knew what they were doing and weren't trying to up-sell me. They were on-schedule and I haven't had any problems with the system since it came on-line. I did have a minor issue when connecting to the panels initially, but Yes Solar took care of that issue quickly. And I was able to get a tax refund last year when part of the cost was incurred and I will get another one this year for the final installments.

I recently had the pleasure of working with 8M Solar to install solar panels on my property, and I am beyond impressed with the entire experience. From start to finish, every aspect of the process was handled with professionalism and expertise. First and foremost, the performance of the solar panels has exceeded my expectations. We completed our installation in October; I've consistently seen high production numbers since then. Although the direction of the house is the key. Speaking of installation, I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism demonstrated by the team from 8M. They were punctual, efficient, and incredibly skilled at their craft. Not only did they complete the installation promptly, but they also ensured that every detail was attended to meticulously. One aspect that particularly stood out was how clean my installation was. The solar panels were seamlessly integrated into my property, with no unsightly wires or clutter detracting from the aesthetic appeal of my home. Great care ensured the installation functioned flawlessly and looked visually appealing. The wiring was also mostly invisible as they were routed through a pipe from the attic to the crawl space. I couldn't be happier choosing 8M for my solar panel installation. I wholeheartedly recommend 8M to anyone considering switching to solar energy. Thank you for a job well done!

Recently my husband and I became aware our inverter for our Solar Panels needed replaced. Much to my surprise our original installer was no longer in business. I researched and reached out to several installers and ultimately chose to bring my business to Emerald Energy. I highly recommend this company for several reasons. Emerald Energy by far exceeded our expectations and replaced our inverter with a quick turnaround. I had my inverter installed and my system back fully functional within just a few days! They are reliable, honest and operate with integrity. John and Brandon went above and beyond to answer every question I had both prior to retaining their service, and during the install. They are both extremely knowledgeable. Everything from their customer service, professionalism, turn around time, and pricing is unmatched. They have also been in business 15+ years and now monitor our system 24/7. Which brings peace of mind in our busy life. I was not compensated for this review, I’m just a work-from-home Mom who appreciates small town values in a big city. If you’ve stumbled upon this review, look no further. Call Emerald Energy TODAY!

I highly highly recommend TayCo Electric & Solar for your solar system needs. They are highly knowledgeable, professional, efficient and an absolute pleasure to work with. From the initial sales consultation with Joe I knew I had selected the right company. He was there to answer any and all of my questions with the utmost detail without any pressures. In addition, Joe helped refer me to a trusted local roofing contractor that was able to help replace our roof before the new solar system was installed, this was a HUGE help. Joe's knowledge of solar, and his connections locally were impressive. Once we started the project Whitney was a joy to work with. She helped so much with the documentation piece of the project and everything went so smooth with HOA, County and Electric Co approvals and inspections. She coordinated everything seamlessly and helped us get all of our apps setup and functioning just how we liked them once the power company gave us the go ahead to turn on the switch. She has been in touch multiple times after that as well to ensure we are happy with how the system is fucntioning and performing - her client service is top notch! Also, want to give a shout out to the install crew who was extremely professional, tidy, on time and was there to answer any questions I had during the install. Overall, TayCo Electric & Solar was amazing to work with, the best contractor I have ever worked with in my life!

We had Solar Services give us the only quote we could get in our area, and they came in where we expected price-wise. After working out the installation plans with our HOA (and buying more expensive panels to make the HOA happy), we were ready to begin. And then it rained. And rained. But finally we got our panels installed and inspected, and were able to turn it on yesterday! Solar Services was just an email or phone call away the whole process, and even came out to talk to the HOA and answer questions about the aesthetics of the system, potential problems, etc. Will and Matt are some of the nicest guys possible as the sales team.
The two "4 star" review sections below are because we were originally going to get a 24-panel system, but when we upgraded to all black Solaria panels, they wouldn't fit on our roof 8-across. It took until after we had already paid the deposit for them to notice, so we dropped from the 8.6kW system we expected to 7.5. Scheduling the install was another sticking point, but mostly not their fault. There was a ton of rain and they had to find a time that was sunny that still meshed with other installs. They were transparent about the process, but it still took longer than I would have liked.
Overall though, I would recommend them to anyone in the area interested in producing their own energy and getting away from coal or gas power plants!

They updated my electrical box for the solar panel install. The electrician under size range breaker and was called out by inspector. They have sent an electrician out twice to replace this breaker, and both times, no work was completed. I also have a 240v air compressor circuit that has each leg wired to 2 completely separate breakers on different ends of the main panel as this is not a functioning 240v circuit and yet an electrician shows up and reports no work needed to be done. Everything about their response is wrong. For starters, after each electrician visit, there has never been an email stating why no work has been done and won't be able to provide proof of emails sent. 2nd, as an incompetent company, they refused to address the issue verbally they wired my 240v circuit for the air compressor wrong. Their electrician stated they can run new wire to our stove or replace or oven with a 30 amp stove. This is a company that can't honor what their employees are promising and need to get the hell out the way so honorable companies can do right by their customers paying $78k for a job. This place is clearly ran by someone with zero integrity as I have received responses that are flat out lies

This is the worst company I have dealt with in a long time, and there are a lot of crappy companies out there. I purchased my home in 2017 and it came with grid-tied microinverters. The first couple of years everything was pretty good and the system seemed carefree and hands off. In 2020 I started having Enphase IQ7 Microsinverter failures. I called and emailed the company. It took weeks for someone to get back to me. Once they finally did they told me they would order replacement microinverters and send someone out to install them. The new microinverters took two or three weeks for the NCSN to receive them but took another 2 months to come out and install them. After installation, 1 or 2 microinverters still were not reporting. I was told not to worry about it that it's probably just my gateway cannot sense them. Completely disgusted I finally gave up trying to get the last two panels working. In 2022 I noticed a couple more controllers had failed and decided to not bother with them. About 1 month ago I checked on the system and had 7 or 8 failed IQ7 controllers. My system is now operating at about 55% capacity. My system is now seriously crippled. I finally emailed NCSN and Eric responded within a couple of days this time. He checked on the system and said he would order the replacement controllers. That was 3 weeks ago. Eric emailed me a week ago and told me his installer would be out on the next Thursday if it didn't rain. He said if it did rain on Thursday he would have them here the following Tuesday. Well, it rained a lot on Thursday and today is Tuesday. Yesterday I emailed Eric to confirm they were still coming today and I got an out of office message. During our communications I told Eric (who is the service manager bye the way) Oh and Eric's excuse for the last time it took 3 or 4 months was due to labor shortage. But, he assured me this time would be different. Well, so far it's not any different. So, here we go again. They either don't respond or make commitments that they don't keep. I received no communication that they would not be coming today. And the person I was communicating with is on vacation. Great. I would love to be able to find another solar company to deal with or just handle the RMAs myself. But they got me trapped right now. Use this company at your own risk.

Where there is no specific pricing information available for a brand then we have used state pricing data for that brand.
Solar panel manufacturer | Avg. cost per watt |
---|---|
Canadian Solar | $2.11 |
LG Solar | $2.51 |
SunPower | $2.64 |
Panasonic | $2.54 |
LONGi Solar | $2.03 |
The most important difference between buying solar panels and any other purchase is that solar panels last 25-30 years. This is a long, long time and you will need customer service over all that time. The reviews below of the two largest corporate solar installation companies indicate larger corporate solar companies are not delivering this support to their customers.
We recommend you find a small or mid-size, local, family-owned solar company. These companies tend to care more about you and your specific job. You don't want to be on hold to a corporation's call center for the next 25 years!
The cost of solar doesn't just include the equipment and installation costs - it’s also made up of permitting costs, inspection costs, and installer profit margins.
These different components are what make the price of solar fluctuate between installations. Some of the factors that affect solar power system installation costs for specific homes include:
Homes that use more electricity will need more solar panels to cover their energy needs.
Although solar panels do get cheaper on a per-watt basis, the overall cost of the system will increase as more panels are added.
But, the higher a home’s energy usage, the more solar panels can save the homeowners on their energy bills.
The price of solar panels can vary depending on the type of solar panels you choose.
There are two main types of solar panels for residential solar installations: monocrystalline and polycrystalline. Monocrystalline solar panels tend to be more efficient and more expensive than other solar panels. Polycrystalline panels have a lower efficiency rating and come at a lower price point.
The type of inverter you buy will also influence the cost of your solar system.
You may see some solar quotes with prices that seem too good to be true.
If you get quoted for a ridiculously cheap price, the installer might be using low-quality equipment or an unsustainable pricing model. You want to use a solar installer that is charging enough so that they can stay in business - as you’ll be relying on them for the next 25 years!
It’s important to make sure that your installer is giving you the best quality at the best price possible. This is why getting multiple solar quotes is so important.
The overall cost of solar can be influenced by the solar incentives available.
Across the U.S., homeowners can apply for the federal solar tax credit. The solar tax credit makes installing solar more cost-effective by providing homeowners with a tax credit equal to 30% of the cost of their installed solar panel system.
Local solar tax incentives and rebates can end up saving homeowners thousands on a solar installation, especially when they’re used with the federal solar tax credit.
