Pennsylvania - Requirements for Solar Power Installation

Licensing of solar power installations in Pennsylvania

In order to be eligible for the various state based rebates and credits equipment used in solar power installations must be new and must be equipment approved for use under the California Solar Initiative. This in turn relies on the California Energy Commissions list of approved solar panels and grid connect inverters.

Licensing of solar panel installers in Pennsylvania

Although it is not an absolute requirement to have any specific solar qualification to install solar panels in Pennsylvania it is a requirement of the Pennsylvania Sunshine Solar Rebate Program that the customer use an approved installer from their list. the program website has a list of the approved installers.

    The PA Sunshine Program was terminated in November of 2013.
