Solar panels with battery backup
No issues from technical side, but after-sales customer support is not professional. Our Zantrex/Snider box stopped inverting during real-life grid outages. Standard Solar sent a technician who couldn't find or fix the problem, but sent $760 bill without explanation or warning. We had to deal with Snider on our own, and Standard Solar had problem to find proof of purchase. When they send technician to the house, they charge $92/hour, including transportation, on-site downloading manufacturer's instructions, etc. Not the level of service one would expect.

Great company with the Best Customer Support bar none. I`m in the process of having this company upgrade my home efficeny for heating and cooling by sealing air leaks and installing insulation.

Installing solar was on our list for a while, Standard Solar helped make it happen. We enjoyed reading the founders book "Chasing the Sun" and impressed to see his experiences and solar knowledge reflected throughout the organization. Creative design work, solid sales and top installation team.

Standard Solar provided an excellent system installed at a good price. The installtion was top notch and the team was excellent to work with. I am very pleased with process. I am just waiting on getting setup with the PMJ account with Srecs. I had to work closely with the utility company to get a new meter installed - which was a little bit of a hassel. But in the end it all worked out and I learned more from the process than I did before.

The whole crew was very professional and worked very hard each and every day.

My experience with Standard Solar has been exceptional. They continue to engage with me sending monthly newsletters and they also are sponsoring a Solar Tour to encourage people to make the transition to solar. They are not just a company that is working for a good bottom line, they are truly concerned about the health of our planet and reducing the local regions carbon footprint.

The gentleman who planned our system appeared to be new and somewhat confused. Somewhere along the way, the plan was miscommunicated to the work crew, and the panels had to be moved unnecessarily affecting the brand new roof. Standard Solar does not adequately understand and explain the federal tax credit for solar energy. Our accountant did the research and straightened that out for us- the result was a net $ 4500 loss of credit.

I think the world of the Standard Solar folks. They made the whole process easy and were constantly teaching us about new technology.

I found the people of Standard Solar to be friendly, thorough, patient, and conscientious. They were responsive to any questions or matters that I raised. Their sense of professionalism is unmatched by any establishment with whom I have done business in my 30plus years of homeownership. Working with Standard Solar was a pleasure. My reward has been a 66% reduction in electric costs in my all-electric home over the past year and one-half.

I`m especially greatful for Standard Solar for handling all of the paperwork for the state and county. I love the system. My first two bills for my whole electric house were $ 7 and $ 15 and I look forward to many sunny days ahead. Standard Solar was great and continues to be incredibly helpful!

Standard Solar has excellent customer service, from the sales people to the installers to the post sale support (form filing, etc). We were very pleased with the whole process.

Very professional, educated, and enthusiastic staff. We were very pleased with the proposal, installation, and end product. We would highly recommend Standard Solar to others interested in installing a system.

They have been excellent...

Standard Solar coordinated all County building permits, inspections, & approvals; filed net metering application with PEPCO electric utility; and submitted application for Maryland energy grant payment. Personnel from all aspects were very professional and went above and beyond to ensure satisfaction.

Left message for Lee to discuss a few issues and have not heard back I am a building contractor that is very interested in the technology and energy efficient building and design

Only one glitch. The size of the existing electrical box was miss-judged. However, Standard Solar absorbed additional upgrade costs. All the personnel at Standard Solar were very cooperative and pleasant with which to work. Only comment is that it seemed to take longer than expected to get permits and inspections performed. But that may have been because they are from a different county and were not familiar with local county protocals.

There are some issues remaining with the installation and operation of the solar thermal system. Hopefully these are resolved soon. I`m happy to recommend Standard Solar to others and plan to work together in the future.

It would be nice if before the installation I knew the Critical Loads panel had an 80 AMP limit and also if I knew the maximum number of fuses and what type (15 or 20 AMP) fuses were in that panel. This would have helped in planning sooner. It still worked out well though. The critical loads panel had one 20-amp fuse and the rest were 15 amp.

Standard Solar`s crew were terrific - smart, polite, neat, etc. A sub-contractor for electrical hook up was a disaster and I believe no longer being used by Standard. If they made cute tee shirts for women, I would be happy to advertise.

The areas that needed improvement are; 1) Need to get a systems person out before the job starts 2) need to be honest with the schedule The were off by 4 months 3) Need a full time procurement person. The team is great and they worked around my issues. The product is perfect and the install was top notch. I wanted to get the basic home systems off the grid... Knowing that the cost is way too high to make the house totally renewable, we did as much as we could afford.

we love the system! The local solar home tour in 2007 and solar decatholon helped decide to go ahead with our project and identify potential contractors. A program on PBS on using solar energy helped us realize that many people with more modest incomes were already doing it. This helped us jump in and stop waiting!
