Wonderful people, successful project
We had a solar ground mount installed in our field last November. The crew hit ledge on every ground screw, so had to spend an extra day working here, but they pulled it off and the project looks great. We didn't produce much power over the Winter, but I still had fun cleaning snow off the panels after a fresh dump. Now that we're into mid Summer, our system is producing twice our monthly electric use and banking credits for next Winter.

Suncommon's Improper Installation Caused a House Fire
Suncommon burned our house down and won’t give us a refund for their improper installation. My husband and I purchased Solar Panels from Suncommon at the end of 2021 and they were installed in March of 2022. On May 24th, 2023 a fire broke out where the solar panels were connected to our electrical panel, causing such extensive damage to our home that we were displaced for over a year while the entire house was basically rebuilt. After a three-month investigation (slowed down by Suncommon’s lawyers), it was determined that Suncommon improperly installed our solar panels, causing the wiring to overheat and start the fire . We are finally back in our home, but we are still paying off the loan on those panels that sit on our roof doing nothing, while also paying our electric bills because Suncommon will not refund us for the panels and installation. We’ve been given estimates telling us it will cost between $7000 and $9000 just to remove the panels from the roof, and Suncommon has not only wasted our time and money with depositions to avoid payment, but they also declared bankruptcy and requested a “stay” in our case. This company is awful and they’ve put us through hell. We are just praying that they do the right thing and reimburse us.

Getting Solar in the top of Vermont
From the first stage of contacting SunCommon to the final one of watching the installation crew roll away, we had an excellent experience getting our solar array from this team. They are true professionals and nice people to boot.

Battery power back-up Installation
As an existing Suncommon solar customer, I was very interested in a notice from them about a good deal for a lease from Green Mountain Power for two of the new model power back-up batteries. The new model batteries are designed for unheated space installations such as my unheated garage. I signed up for the installation last fall. Due to a delivery problem from the battery supplier, installation was delayed until 3/25. It was worth the wait! All of the design work was completed ahead of time and the installation was scheduled for the next day after being notified about the availability of the batteries. The crew and installation work were great and I am very pleased with the result.

good company
I want to share my appreciation of SunCommon and recommend the company for solar installations. We recently engaged the company to install a solar canopy with battery backup at our house. We were given excellent advice and guidance during the design and planning phases, and each person that came on site was professional, patient and knowledgeable. Canopy installation went smoothly, despite the underlying bedrock, and we were greatly pleased with the look. The rest of the installation, from trenching to battery installation and pairing with my phone was conducted with neat, efficient, and diligent work by the SunCommon technical group. Every workman that came shared their enthusiasm for the product and their collective experience in making them work. I highly recommend SunCommon!

Very happy with our solar from SunCommon.
We've had our panels for over 10 years, and have been very happy with them. We were also glad to add the Tesla Powerwalls when they were available, and they have made storm watching so much easier and less stressful.

Great company, great service
Great customer care and service! It's been a year since we've had our solar system installed (at our residence), and we love it. Smooth install, quick response to any question, providing solutions to any concern. Joe Hughes, who we mostly dealt with, has been great; knowledgable, responsible, responsive, attentive. Install work was clean and smooth, follow up was great! A real pleasure!

Well Done
Everything was done professionally and once started it was quickly accomplished.

An example for skilled trades everywhere!
From initial contact to actual solar installation was just over a month. It would have been faster but apparently there was a defect in the inverter (not their fault). EVERY step of the way was easy to understand, easy to communicate, and they undercut their main competition by (not exaggerating) $8,000 for a better system. I am just so thrilled with the care and professionalism from minute one with this company. Wow!

Excellent Process & Product!
Suncommon really was amazing, throughout the whole solar experience. They had the best quote of all the companies we contacted, *and* were the easiest to work with. They were with us every step, made it as easy as possible - and now our array is up and producing!

Customer Service
Some of the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. I have been trying to get a technician to look at my system for the last 2 months, still haven't gotten one. They take days and sometimes a week just to answer an email. I am currently an extremely unhappy SunCommon customer.
Kevin | Colchester, VT | 09/26/2023
Don’t expect timely service or support
After less than a year after our installation was complete our system failed and stopped generating during peak season for generation. It’s now been offline for Almost two months and we can’t even get a time scheduled for someone to look at our system. Their priority seems to be new customers and not supporting current ones that they already got heir money from. Please consider other true local options or be at risk of paying for something that does not work.

My experience with SunCommon
About ten years ago I had a concrete slab installed with plans to build a shed. Along comes a stroke and that plan put on hold. As the years passed solar power started to get a lot of attention. I began to think about utilizing this slab for some kind of solar array My adventure with SunCommon began while driving down I-89 when I decided to stop at SunCommon headquarters to get some information. No one around except for a young lady who helped me fill out form on her office space computer. The next day I received a call and a time was set to meet with the solar. home advisor. He arrived as scheduled and reviewed my situation. I love post and beam construction and a canopy solar system was designed. By luck the post and beam canopy was a perfect fit for the concrete slab. Next came the evaluation person who did the initial layout. The foundation crew had to cut the corners of the slab off to accommodate the installation of 7ft ground screws. The concrete was thicker than anticipated which turned into quite the project. All eight screws were installed into ledge which had to be drilled. This phase of the project was delayed by extreme weather , heavy rain and lightning, and the FLOOD. My road was impassable along with many roads between Waterbury and my house, but within a few days things were repaired and ways of getting here were figured out. The erection of the post and beam canopy was done on the most beautiful day imaginable. What a beautiful structure. The foundation crew came back and did trenching and electrical conduit in pouring rain. The installation of the solar panels and associated wiring and equipment took half a day. I must say that all the people and I mean all the people were very polite, respecful of my property, extremely neat. and willing to explain and answer any questions or concerns that I had. SunCommon gets a grade 10 from me. I highly recomend SunCommon. David Bertrand

Inverter replacement
Sun Common installed my system 2017. Recently I had an inverter issue. It had to be replaced. It was under warranty. They ordered a new one and came out and replaced it. The system has been great. I would have them do it again if ever I needed one.

Outstanding Service and Value From Start to Finish
The people at SunCommon are awesome. They make the entire process of going Solar easy and even fun. I can't imagine a more enjoyable process. Their information is informative yet easy to understand. They don't confuse you with lots of technical data and facts, just plain language. If you do have a question, they take the time to fully explain the answer. There's never any pressure during the process as well. I really liked the fact that I was dealing with a local company and I also appreciated their social mission. I highly recommend SunCommon to any thinking about solar.

Wolfe pack Array
SunCommon was the second solar company I investigated and after meeting with our sales representative Nick, I looked no further. Nick was awesome in helping us to decide on a ground array versus a roof mount for all the right reasons. The design was perfectly suited for not only our primary residence, but also our summer lake house and two eventual EVs. The entire process from design to installation was clearly defined and painless. Everyone involved was very professional, respectful and involved me in the installation as to asking for my opinions for the location of hardware to meet present and future needs of the home. SunCommon is a top notch Vermont based company and I am certainly recommending them to anyone interested in solar generation.

Very Professional and Easy to Work With
Had a great experience with SunCommon from first contact through installation. Found everyone I worked with to be professional and helpful. The install crew was efficient and was respectful of the property. There was some rain/wind that impacted the timeline slightly but they were communicative and picked things back up the next day. Everything came out great.

New rooftop array for pole barn
Suncommon just finished a roof mount installation on my pole barn in late January. They provided recommendations in the design phase of the pole barn so this has been in the works for quite a while. They actually redesigned again as they started due to the high winds that we get on the hilltop site. They are focused on doing it right even though this slowed them down. January install provided challenges as well but safety was first on icy metal roof. And, big in my book, an absolutely neat work site. What fun to have all my heat pumps and heated floors going and still see the meter spinning backwards. Experienced local crews, electrical and install, made for an easy (for me) experience. Would definitely use again.

Suncommon
We had a great experience top to bottom. From the informal sales meeting to the help with the financing and site evaluation. They use quality people all employees and all take a tremendous amount of pride in what they are doing. The roof work was done safely and quickly and the integration with all the tech is easy and painless. Most importantly you get a dedicated PM(project manager). Our PM Rebecca was absolutely amazing. She filed all the paperwork with GMP and followed through on everything. I won't lie it is not cheap but you are paying for the best, and when it comes to electric work you WANT THE BEST!

My roof developed leaks and I had to have the solar array removed in order to make the necessary repair. SunCommon was very helpful through out the entire process. From initial contact right thru the de-install and re-install process. when doing the de-install they made sure that all the openings created by the removal were completely sealed. during the re-install the worker went out of their way to ensure that it was done correctly, I highly recommend SunCommon

We just installed solar with SunCommon and it was an easy, hassle-free process from beginning to end. Good Customer Service
We bought our system from the company they used to be. Hadn't had any problems in the 9 years we've had it. Noticed an alarm light on and wrote to them. Within a few hours they got back to me with a simple solution. Was pleasantly surprised after no interaction and merging, they still had all my info and great service. Even sent me a picture of my install to point out exactly what I had to touch. Very happy with the company and my system.
MG | Rhinebeck, NY | 11/05/2022
Overall I had a positive experience with SunCommon. Everyone that came to the house from start to finish were professional, knowledgeable, highly skilled, and willing to answer any questions. The business model works well in that there are different individuals responsible for different phases of the process. This allows each individual to develop their own unique set of skills which allows for smooth transitions from one stage to the next. The hardest part was making a final decision about the number of panels in regards to productivity and cost. The smoothest part was the installation which was a testament to how qualified this team was.
Eric Smeltzer | Waterbury Center, VT | 10/27/2022
A very simple and easy process
Sun Common made the whole process very simple and easy from our standpoint. They took charge of every step including site assessment, cost estimation, design, permitting, and installation. The whole process from initial contact to installation took less than four months. A different Sun Common staff person was involved in each step, but the hand-offs flowed well and there were no communication gaps.

AMAZING INSTALLATION TEAM!
This is our 2nd go of getting solar panels with SunCommon. I have nothing but amazing, positive, wonderful things to say specifically about the installation team. Joe and his group of guys did an amazing job installing, which is exactly the bar they set for the first time they installed. They more than hit that bar on the 2nd installation. Thanks to the installation team - those guys rock!

Elias & Crew
I wanted to recognize the incredible work Elias and his crew from Suncommon did during the two days they were at our house installing panels. From start to finish the team was incredibly professional, pleasant and super helpful. They showed up en masse the first day and it was hard to see how they were going get everything done but it was like watching a well orchestrated symphony, everyone was going about their work, taking precautions not to damage anything, being respectful of the property and getting the bulk of the work done the first day. Elias, crew manager, kept it all going according to plan and communicated with us every step of the way. The whole crew was upbeat and seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. All in all an awesome experience. I would highly recommend this crew to anyone looking to install solar. Thank you.

Great Support from Suncommon
I recently noticed that my solar edge app was indicating that power was not being generated, or reported by my solar panels. Since the inverter light was glowing green, I figured that the problem was likely related to reporting rather than power generation. I logged onto the Suncommon website and found a video and other information that enabled me to troubleshoot the problem. I also called the helpline and spoke to Sean who understood the issue and helped me work through the steps needed to get back on line. He also called me the next day to make sure everything was working and data was being reported correctly. The level of service, back up and support you guys provided was really great.

Everyone I was involved with at Suncommon was great too work with. As for the employees that came too our house for the work they had to perform, nothing but professional. That’s not to say there weren’t minor bumps during the whole process but in the end we’re worked out. We are very pleased with the end result, which took about 4 months, start to finish.

An Uncommon Experience
As in the past, our experience with SunCommon was outstanding. We had a glitch regarding our online monitoring program (Solaredge) and I indicated so on the web-based Customer Service link. SunCommon's response and explanation was virtually immediate and clear, indicating the source of the problem. In addition, they followed up a few days later to be sure things were functioning properly. All consistent with our SunCommon experience these past 3+ years. Kevin Mattingly, Washington, VT

Many years of great service
I purchased my solar panels from SunCommon in August, 2015 and have not had to write a check to the electric company since. While there have been occasional error messages, especially early on, the service has been dependable and the customer service has been excellent. It is very reassuring to know that help and advice are available just by sending an email. Recently I experienced an error message and reported it. Even though the system seemed to correct itself, my solar guide researched it further and found that there was a known anomaly within the system (which is aging, of course, and technology is improving all the time) so she sent a pair of technicians to inspect the system and take the necessary corrective measures. I would not hesitate to recommend SunCommon to anyone considering "going solar".

They take care of everything
The process took longer than first anticipated due to supply chain issues. Suncommon took care of all the permits and filings; I didn't have anything to do except sign. I have a solar canopy with a powerwall backup. The canopy is beautiful, nicer than I anticipated. Sales process went well and the on-site work was completed in a few days. Construction crews were very accommodating and easy to work with. They worked neatly and cleaned up any of their messes. So far, the system has been performing flawlessly. We have an all electric house and even with A/C running, we generate more than we use.

All Around Awesome Company
Our entire experience with SunCommon was outstanding! Every person we dealt with was extremely professional. They took care of every detail, from designing our system so that it will serve our needs now and into the future, to arranging financing, to reseeding our lawn after the project was complete. I have never met such a compassionate and caring group either. Our dog passed away due to cancer during the time that the team was at our house. They went out of their way to help us bury her and then the company made a donation to a local Humane Society in her name. They were respectful of our time and our property. I can’t say enough about them!

I am very happy that my solar panels are on the back side of my home not on the ground. It is great not to have to pay an electric bill each month and that I am helping to help the environment in a small way.

Great service and knowledgable
From the first meeting, when I was the only one to show up on a cold and snowy eve to learn more at a seminar, to the estimating and installation process of the PV system, and then a year later adding a Powerwall Battery , the folks at SunCommon have all been helpful, professional, and clearly excited about the work. They approach the work as a mission first, and then a business. (The Powerwall was delayed because of product availability, which was not their fault, but the panels were installed and commissioned in a timely manner, so I'm giving 5 stars for schedule anyway)

Fast install, slow responsiveness (WFH = 'barely work')
As far as I know my panels are high quality, and the technicians who installed the panels were fine and frankly, very efficient. However, this product was completely misrepresented and despite attempts to have any real sit-down discussion, this company left me hanging under the guise of "Zoom calls" and "remote work" - which from what my interactions seemed to be, meant barely working at all. It was impossible to get a hold of the sales person by just making a phone call. Getting a barrage of contracts and details only in digital format is not useful. And all my quotes for the product - now that I've done all my down payments in cash, and got the solar loan, etc - were wrong. They seemed to completely misunderstand or misrepresent the way the solar credit works, and there's no way I could've had a loan at the amount they quoted me. I have checked with the bank, and my tax preparer. I'm furious and of course, when I brought it up, nobody's available by phone. The most frustrating, and infurating thing, is, when you are a regular person who works inside your office, every day, and have to go on as usual, you literally have no tolerance for the BS of offices that are work from home, and ok with nobody ever being available during normal phone hours. I'm thinking I may make a claim in court because the way they proceeded feels so willfully incorrect. Their phones will ring and ring and ring and ring and ring out, like it's 1977 and I'm calling a newspaper. What. The. Hell? Also - sales seems, in retrospect, clueless, and their marketing materials are outright lying. They repeatedly called it a tax rebate, and 'instant credit' and lo and behold, it's not those things, it's an offset. It can't be applied to my loan, I had supplied them all my info to verify this back when we were figuring it out at the start, and now I'm over my head in my debts now. Not a good experience. Aside from setup. The contractors seem good. No thanks SunCommon!

Charged Up
It's been 5 years since we made the decision to switch to solar for our home, and we couldn't be happier. While our process / goals took some time to dial in, the SunCommon team is just as much of a resource for us today as they were during our installation. Chris McLernon went above and beyond from the first site inspection, to the first day we started generating power. He made sure our needs were met with the right solutions for our home. The biggest surprise has been Chris's recommendation for our heat pump. It's awesome. Huge thanks to Chris and the SunCommon team.
