Latest bad review thumbs down

Seriously NOT Happy...

Nothing but frustration and worry and a feeling of being screwed since we signed the contract with AMI. They kept telling us they were waiting for a permit for installation, but they didn't know the county permit office had called us to tell us the permit was ready, almost 6 weeks before installation. We don't like being lied to when we are spending $66,500. The one year deferred interest clock started ticking on one of our loans when we were funded in September. But our system wasn't installed until November 25th. We actually ended up with 3 different loans from 3 different companies in order to purchase the system.

We paid $66,500 for our 52 panel system. Think carefully before you get rooked into solar. It doesn't seem to be what they say it is when they are trying to sell it to you. Once you are funded you are screwed. Kinda like Obama Care... We didn't even produce 1/2 of the power in December of 2014 that we used in December of 2013, and according to AMI our system is huge! Buyer Beware!!!

We still don't have the paperwork they promised by years end, so we could get the rebate from the government when we file our taxes. Once your system is funded and they have the money, it's like pulling hens teeth to get help or answers from them. Without that rebate, we will end up with huge monthly payments after the "Interest free" period. Plus we are still paying for electricity which we were supposedly going to be able to save in an account to pay the loans.

AMI says they will give us a $3500 "rebate" to go toward our loans, IF, we recommend them to other people. There's no way we can recommend AMI to a friend. Hell we wouldn't even recommend them to an enemy! We are so very disappointed and probably screwed. It's almost impossible to get anyone in that company to actually answer their phone during business hours, and a call back from a message left only seems to happen when you post your dissatisfaction publicly. There are too many issues we have had to cover in this post.... The person who referred us to AMI has had real problems with them too. It took over 90 days for her system to be turned on after it was installed and who do you think they blame? Sadly she's 70 years old and timid about complaining.

It all sounded so wonderful when they came to sell to us. Once you sign, and the right of rescission period is over....We are seriously worried. Just sayin'....

Reply from Leescan: Don't go solar! Our bill for January just came in and it's almost double what it was last year at this time, BEFORE we had solar! It's a rip off!!!!!!

Inept and Unethical

AMI (aka A/C Solar aka Thermal Advantage aka Energy Research Group) sold us a solar panel array in August of 2013. We were told 1-3 months for installation. We didn't hear a word from them for a month. We did note that our $21,000 contractors loan had been drained by $11,000. I called to see where we were in the process. I had to leave 3 voicemails before I got a call back. I was told that they were waiting for a building permit and to set up a tie-in with the electric company. They said that they would follow up with the electric company. We heard no follow up so, after a couple weeks, I called and left a voicemail to check on our status. No response. When I did get to speak to someone, I was given the same response about waiting on permits over and over again. At one point I called the electric company myself. There is one guy who handles the solar requests and he had not heard anything about changing our account. By the way, at the end of all this, we went to town hall to see a copy of the building permit. It was applied for Nov 6th and approved Nov 7th.
This routine of non-responsive communication dragged on until January. We finally got everything installed and the monitoring system set up Jan 23rd, 2014. At this point, we knew AMI was inept but we were happy to finally have our system. Then, one month later, there was a glitch in the monitoring. At this point, we found out that AMI is a group of unethical thieving schemers. The panels we received were far inferior to the top of the line that the salesman showed us. He even downplayed this brand in his sales pitch. We were overcharged by more than $10,000. Needless to say we are filing suit against them before they “go out of business” and open as another company as has been their history.
I do want to note that all of the subcontractors who came out to install and service the account were professional and above board. They even went out of their way to help us.
How anyone could have a 5-star experience with AMI is beyond me. I would not be surprised if Andy doesn't write the reviews himself.
Please don't get involved with this company. They put on a good front but they are without honor. But, you don't have to take my word for it. Please do your own research before letting these shameful people into your home.

Energy Effieciency Upgrades

Not only did I get ten new windows, AMI also added insulation, replaced my thermostat, sealed all of my leaks and put weather-stripping on my doors. I am beyond happy with everything! I will continue to refer all of my friends and family to AMI!
